My guest , Jorge Antonio Renaud is the National Criminal Justice Director for Latino Justice, formerly known as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund,  a New York-based national civil rights organization with the goal of changing discriminatory practices via advocacy and litigation. He has a BS in Psychology from Sam Houston State University; a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin; was the 2020 Poet in Residence for the Civil Rights Corps;  is the 2021 Writer in Residence for the Texas After Violence Project and Policy Analyst for the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition.   After being arrested at the age of 20, thrown into jail, then beaten and sexually assaulted, Jorge began a 32-year odyssey of addiction and robbery, spending 27 years in Texas prisons. Caged for the last time in 1991, Jorge was released in July of 2008. He is serving the rest of his 60-year sentence for robbery on parole. He is a prison abolitionist with one paramount tenet – no human is disposable.  Listen in to Jorge's remarkable story...
