初めてインドに行ってきました。首都デリー、タージマハルのあるアグラ、宗教的な聖地バラナシを駆け足でまわっただけですが、新しい経験と多くの気づきがありました。 バラナシでは、ガンジス河で日の出時間に沐浴をしてみました。日没時にはプージャと呼ばれるお祈りの儀式を見学しました。数万人の現地の人が祈りを捧げていて、3000年以上というヒンドゥー教の長い歴史の一端を垣間見た感じでした。 2500年前にヒンドゥー教から仏教が生まれ、1500年前に日本に伝来しました。ともに多神教で、共通の部分も多そうです。大黒天、弁財天、毘沙門天などはヒンドゥー教の神様だそうです。
