洛阳访才子，江岭作流人。闻说梅花早，何如北地春？这首诗里包含了相当复杂的情绪，既有不平，也有伤感；感情深沉，却含而不露，是一首精练而含蓄的小诗。前两句完全点出题目。“洛阳”指明地点，紧扣题目的“洛中”，“才子”即指袁拾遗；“江岭作流人”，暗点“不遇”，已经作了“流人”，自然无法相遇了。“闻说梅花早，何如北地春”两句，写得洒脱飘逸，联想自然。大庾岭古时多梅，又因气候温暖，梅花早开。从上句“早”字，见出下句“北地春”中藏一“迟”字。早开的梅花，是特别引人喜爱的。可是流放岭外，怎及得留居北地故乡呢？
