新家孟城口，古木馀衰柳。来者复为谁，空悲昔人有。此诗是《辋川集》里的第一首。辋川在今陕西蓝田西南，是一个山清水秀的地方。孟城坳即孟城口，就在辋川风景区内。这首小诗写得精练含蓄，耐人寻味。王维新近搬到孟城口，却可叹那里只有疏落的古木和枯萎的柳树。这里的“衰”字，不仅仅说“柳”而已，而是暗示出一片衰败凋零的景象。有衰必有盛，而何以由盛而至衰，令人不堪目睹呢？这就透露出悲哀的感情。
