西上太白峰，夕阳穷登攀。太白[1]与我语，为我开天关[2]。愿乘泠风去，直出浮云间。举手可近月，前行若无山。一别武功[3]去，何时复更还？〔注〕[1]太白：这里指太白星。 [2]天关：星名。《宋史·天文志》:“东方：角宿二星为天关，其间天门也，其内天庭也。故黄道经其中，七曜之所行也。”诗里指想象中的天界门户。[3]武功：这里指武功山。太白山“南连武功山”（见《水经注·渭水》）。李白于天宝元年（742）应诏入京时，可谓踌躇满志。可是，由于朝廷昏庸，权贵排斥，他的政治抱负根本无法实现，这使他感到惆怅与苦闷。这种心情就反映在《登太白峰》一诗上。
