From Corolla One Studios in Glendale, California, this is The Adam Corolla Show. Adam's guest today, C. Thomas Howell. Plus the news with Alicia Krause. And now... Adam Carolla. Yeah, get it on. Got to get on. No choice but to get on. Mandate to get it on. Thanks for tuning in. C. Thomas Howe, back in studio. One of the good ones, C. Thomas Howe. Just a good dude.
Man, life's interesting, you know? C. Thomas, I remember seeing you on E.T. and Outsiders and, of course, Red Dawn, which I've seen... I may have seen Red Dawn 77 times, over under 77. Never turn it off. Wolverines. Never get tired of watching that movie. And here you are. See Thomas House also doing a thing. Coming up, which I didn't know about, you get the ET cast together.
You're doing it this weekend in Los Angeles at the Marriott Burbank Hotel. And that's like Comic-Con for ET and movies of that genre. It's a pop culture thing. Pop culture thing. You know, the Comic-Con phenomenon has been great for, you know, especially for actors over the past few years. I mean, when COVID hit, it basically wiped out the business. And then we had two years of a strike.
And there was a time when people were kind of embarrassed to be attached to Comic-Cons. But now all the greats do them.

Chapter 2: What challenges did C. Thomas Howell face during filming?
So Dick Lester, Richard Lester, the director, was one of his best friends and said, I really need you to do this. And of course— He was killed in that shot. Well, we had three or four more weeks of shooting to go. Everybody wanted to stop filming.
And, of course, they were capable of mimicking him and doubling him throughout the rest of the movie when they could have just doubled him for that one shot. Yeah, always similar to, I don't know, Three Musketeers, those bridges that are cobblestone.
All that.
There's like an arch going over the river. Correct. To the castle. Correct. That's where it happened. God, Dick Lester directed the director, directed Hard Day's Night. Yeah, sure, man. And the other one as well, I believe. It just keeps, you know, it's so funny when you start tugging at the string of the Hollywood sweater and it just keeps going.
And Roy Kinnear's son, Rory Kinnear, is an incredible actor in all the Bond movies and, you know, just turned into, you know, an amazing artist himself. I should plug, by the way, the movie you came here to talk about as well. I want to know, how does it, it's called One Mile and the sequel, One More Mile. It'll be in theaters February, this coming up soon. That's correct.
In theaters only at the beginning. It'll be in theaters and then it'll go to streaming. Um, and ironically they, and I've never had this happen, but we shot two films back to back. Um, and they were going, the plan originally was to release them individually, but for this particular run, they're going to, you know, you buy a ticket for one, you see both films in the theater. Wow. So it's, uh.
How'd this come about or how'd you get involved with the project? A gentleman named Aaron Kaplan who came up with the idea with his daughter when they were traveling around the country, basically looking for a school for her to go to. I play the heavy in it. It's about a guy that's taking his daughter to go look at schools when his daughter is kidnapped. And, you know –
I just got a call from, from Aaron's people. And he said, he, Aaron would really like you to read this script. In fact, there's going to be, you know, two of them back to back. Um, and I read it and man, whenever I get the chance to play the heavy, I'm in. Right.

Chapter 3: What is the plot of C. Thomas Howell's upcoming films?
I love it.
The bad guys, the role to have always. And so, uh, we kind of thought it was going to be distributed separately. And, uh, An offshoot of Paramount, a company called Republic, I believe, is distributing it. And they fell in love with it. And they said, we're going to just release them simultaneously. And Ryan Felipe is the lead in it.
I like that good. He's cool, man. Super cool guy.
Chapter 4: How does C. Thomas Howell describe his music career?
And what's going on musically with you? So I just released my second album, Damn Good Man.
You know, COVID hit. And I just decided that I'd follow a dream. And I started writing songs and stuff.
Put a band together, and my second album is out right now, and it's something that I really am passionate about. Going from the two-hour storytelling format to the two-minute storytelling format was pretty seamless for me, and I enjoy it. It's a little – managing a band is a little bit like taking a Girl Scout troop on a ski trip. It can be a challenge.
But for the most part, the creative outlet, getting up there on stage and performing is remarkable. And so we opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Oh, yeah. We opened for Tanya Tucker, the Gatlin brothers. I mean, we really had a good run. And this past year, I've just been kind of focusing on film again. I was playing a club. What club was I? Oh, you guys don't know.
What the hell club I was playing in Texas? Oh, the barn. The big red barn? No. Shit. Anyway, the Gatlin brothers were coming in. The next day. We had a hell of a moment with Larry on the show when you came and did my show for me in Nashville, which I loved, by the way. You were fantastic.
I don't know if you get enough credit for your stand-up and what you do, but the way your mind works, the ping-pong ball game. Oh, yeah, that was fun. Brilliant. If you ever get a chance to see this guy live, go do it because it's worth every moment.

Go to mcroll.com. Yeah, Do-Si-Do Big Barn. I think that's where I played. And the Gatlin brothers were coming in the next weekend. And it's so surreal. C. Thomas Howell, always great. Thank you, man.
