Live from the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California, this is the Adam Carolla Show. Adam's guest today, Jonathan Kite. And now, Adam Carolla! Thanks, you guys, for coming out, hanging out. Always fun. All right, I'm going to bring our guest out right at the top, because I've got a lot to talk to him about. You know him from a bunch of TV shows and stand-up appearances. Jonathan Kite.
Jonathan. And if he doesn't come out... I can talk about other things. He's here. Here's something I'm noticing. Thanks for joining me tonight. Dude, I'm happy to be here. I know there's a few things for you. One is a recent trip to Coachella. Coachella, yeah. Has anybody here been to Coachella? You have. Oh yeah, sure. The one with the boobs and the tattoos. I like that. Sure, she's been there.
That's right.
I could have picked you out. I'm a Coachella whisperer. I'm like, let me see who's been there.

Chapter 2: What are the key takeaways from Jonathan Kite's recent Coachella trip?
I know, but 90 minutes of it is him lecturing everybody about tyranny. It's more a TED Talk. Yeah, it's more a TED Talk at this point. All right, so you're working on a movie. I don't know how much you can talk. I heard you're writing one with Jamie Foxx. Oh, I am? Oh, wow. Is that Inside Baseball?
Inside Baseball, yeah. We got one coming. The one that I'm doing, actually, that I'm going to Austin to film next week is about a festival. And so weirdly enough, like I wasn't going, I wasn't being method, but I had booked this for next week and they are doing a festival in Austin. They've created the production, a full music festival. And so we're filming, it's like an early 2000s comedy.
It's right up your alley.
And are the bands going to be like bands we've heard of? Yes. They're all, everything is real. And so they've invited people to this festival outside of Austin, and the production team has sort of taken it over, so the whole thing is a living set.
Chapter 3: How does Jonathan Kite reflect on celebrity culture and festivals?
It's pretty amazing. Is Vince Vaughn in this movie? He might be. Hey, my man, I just want to say something right now. I want you to take the red pill and the blue pill. This isn't like a Democrat-Republican thing. I'm saying they're both acid. They're both acid. They're both going to kind of fuck you up. And right now, you don't even realize this. I'm not even Vince Vaughn.
I'm a frog that you've been talking to that's dead on the side of the road for about the past 25 minutes because you're fucking wracked out of your head with crack. You already are there. You're already there, and I'm there with you. I'm there with you right now. I figured the crowd would enjoy a little Vince Vaughn.
I forget because I don't like, I do in my hour, you know, like I'll do some impressions, but then I haven't done him in a while and you forget. You're like, oh yeah. He's the, I love Vince Vaughn. Did I ever tell you I did the impression for him one time? Jamie and Fox and I, he invited me to a table read that I was a part of. And he was, Vince was the lead with Jamie.
They were reading this movie. It never came out. And Vince had been told that someone in the room did an impression of him, but he didn't know who it was. And so we'd, like, gone through the whole table read, and Peter Billingsley, you guys know him from the Christmas story, you know, it's Vince's best friend.
The blonde kid, yeah.
Yeah, Ralphie. And so Vince goes to the bathroom at the end, and Ralph, or Ralphie, and Peter comes up and he goes, yo, do Vaughn, do Vaughn. And it was, like I said, Beetlejuice three times, because Vince Vaughn just fucking appeared out of nowhere. And he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, do me. How do I sound? Like, do my energy? Like, talk about me?
And I did it for him, and his face went as white as a ghost. LAUGHTER And I had to be like, no, no, no, I do other people, you know? So he didn't think I was, like, vocally stalking him. I'm like, name a white guy, I'll do it, you know? Vince used to be my neighbor. Yes. And he literally, now a lot of people do the, you know, that guy was my neighbor.
But, you know, it's funny, like in Hollywood, there's a lot of like, you know, Bela Lugosi or Charlie Chaplin used to live in this house. You know what I mean? I just looked for an apartment. I got told three different times that he lived there. Right, right. Charlie Chaplin couldn't have lived in 1,300 houses in L.A. But that's not weird. That's weird. Everyone's trying to get in there.
And then when it comes to, like, Epstein's Island, everyone's going the other direction. Never met the guy. Chaplin was not there. So Vaughn was my direct neighbor. He lived right next to me. I used to hear him. coach his kids playing soccer, like brought a coach in, had his kids running around. By the way, the interest that parents now take in their children is insane. Insane.

Chapter 4: What humorous observations are made about clothing and branding?
Special agent.
Nice embroidery there.
Thank you. I mean, nice. Yeah, I made this eight years ago. It's nice on the front.
I like this. I kind of want to see if it fits. Police nice. That's the only thing. It would have been slightly better if it just said nice agent.
You know what? First off, you know me. I'm always disappointed in my employees. Always. Always. And I said, why didn't you say nice agent or nice on the back? Police nice. And you know what? God bless.

Chapter 5: How do the speakers reflect on the media's portrayal of political events?
My employee at the time got on the computer, pulled up a picture of nice agents and ice agents. And it says police. Then it says ice under it. And to be fair. I said, just make it like the regular things. Now, God fucking forbid somebody say something before they spend 800 bucks printing something. Go. It says police and it says nice under. I'd go, you know what, son?
In that case, let's just get rid of the police.
Chapter 6: What insights are shared about the dynamics of government and leadership?
And they'd go, but it's not exactly like. And I'd go, nobody would know.
But that's my bit. The bit is nice, agent. So let's keep with the bit.
Right, but of course nobody asked me. And like I said, I just said make it like the jacket. Now, when you get people that are actually good, they see stuff that's wrong and go, I think this reads as good as if it just said nice on the back. But if you pull up a picture of an ice windbreaker, it will say police ice.
Okay.
Chapter 7: How do the speakers critique grocery shopping trends and cultural habits?
So they got me on a technicality.
Gotcha. Now I'm wondering if that'll fit me.
I still think people who know you're going for a joke are allowed to pause and go, just wanted to check.
For the record, the employee was not me.
No.
I did not work here at the time.
No.
I have a Guardian Angels jacket with my name on it.
Oh, really?
