Today, I will dive into how to regulate the nervous system by sharing my favorite (and most practical) ways to maintain a healthy nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is comprised of the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is a network of nerves that helps your body activate its "fight or flight" response during stressful situations whereas the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for activating the "rest and digest" response to help calm the sympathetic nervous system. However, when the nervous system is dysregulated, it can lead us to operate full-time in fight or flight mode where we are putting our body in a high-alert, stressed out state of being, which can lead to a whole slew of additional health issues.
