Agile Unemployment: Normalizing the Way We Talk About Being Out of Work
Remaining Insubordinate with Jocelyn Davis: How to Be Your Bravest Self- Part I
20 Sep 2023
Are you afraid of speaking up? Are you finding your leadership style unappreciated or ineffective? People who lose their jobs are often leaving a toxic work environment or at the very least, a workplace that is not aligned with their values and beliefs. Whether you are in the C Suite or on the frontline it can happen to anyone. With a toxic environment comes fear- the fear of disagreeing with others, the fear of standing up for yourself and what you believe, and the fear of losing your job. This is the exact situation that author Jocelyn Davis found herself in when she lost her job. She chose to stand up for herself and her team, and although it resulted in her losing her job, she retained her character and ultimately "won" by boomeranging back to her former company AND by sharing her leadership knowledge as an author. In her latest book, Insubordinate: 12 New Archetypes for Women Who Lead, Jocelyn talks with host Sabina Sulat about the power of tapping into our different and diverse leadership styles as well as the need for leaders to choose what is right over what is expected. A book and conversation with women, about women, but for everyone. Part I of a special two-part podcast that you won't want to miss.
