Producers achieved a near record maize crop in 2021, amounting to 16,2 million tons. This has only been surpassed by the record of 16,8 million tons produced in 2017. Annual production has and will probably remain volatile. By comparison, in the drought year of 2016, only 7,8 million tons were produced - not nearly enough to meet the local demand. Hosted on Acast.
