AHLA's Speaking of Health Law
Becerra v. Empire Health Foundation: One AHLA Member’s Experience at the Supreme Court
02 Aug 2022
Most lawyers dream of arguing a case before the Supreme Court, but only a few ever get the chance. One of those lucky few was AHLA member Daniel Hettich, Partner, King & Spalding LLP, who argued for the defense in Becerra v. Empire Health Foundation at the Supreme Court on November 29, 2021 (the opinion was issued on June 24, 2022). Daniel tells Ross Burris, Shareholder, Polsinelli PC, and Jeanne Vance, Shareholder, Weintraub Tobin, about the specifics of the case, how the case worked its way to the Supreme Court, and his experience arguing the case before the justices.
