Send us a textOpenAI has recently launched Study Mode, a new feature in ChatGPT designed to transform the AI chatbot from an answer-providing tool into an interactive educational tutor. This feature was officially rolled out on July 29, 2025, and represents OpenAI’s response to growing concerns about AI’s impact on education and students’ critical thinking skills. How Study Mode WorksStudy Mode operates on the principle of Socratic questioning, encouraging students to engage actively with the material rather than simply receiving direct answers. When enabled, the feature:•Asks probing questions to assess the student’s current skill level and understanding•Provides scaffolded responses that help students make connections with topics they already know•Offers interactive prompts that guide users through problems step-by-step•Sometimes refuses to provide direct answers unless students demonstrate engagement with the materialIn this episode, I share a segment from my weekly slot -' The Digital Download' - on Dublin City FM. I spoke to Caoimhe on Good Morning Dublin - she asked great questions! Need More Support?
