But I told her the car had finally broken down after barely hanging on for so long. And I was able to trade it in for this, which would save on hotel costs. More or less the truth. She kissed me. Told me that the way my brain works will be studied by science. And then we went on with our days until I had to leave again. I watched her disappear in my mirror, waving goodbye. These times when I'm away from her feel like dreams.

I'd rather slip through this country undetected. I cover the window so that the light doesn't give me away.
The R V? I've taken to calling her Danton. Because I'm lonely out here and could use even imaginary company. Also, I guess at some point she became a she. Danton does me right so far. There is an eagerness to her. She seems to be ahead of me on acceleration. Already speeding up a fraction of a second before I put my foot down. I sit on her steps, then visible in the dark. The night sky is really showing off. A majesty of stars. I hold my cell phone in my hand, tossing it back and forth. Soon I'll need to call Alice. and recite another batch of lies. Because despite myself There was something to the warning that I believed.
