Yandri is the unicorn kind of artist that I dream of finding. The kind that you just sit there and watch her and you know something exceptional is gonna happen. She started releasing singles a number of years ago, but just now is actually finally releasing her debut album. The key to her music's excellence, in my opinion, is how easily and honestly diverse it is. She was born in Santo Domingo, raised in Italy, and has lived many places since she's currently living in Los Angeles. So the diversity of her music is just an authentic expression of who she is. So for that reason, I knew I had to invite her in to perform a tiny desk.

And I wanted to dissect exactly the basis for that amazing music, which obviously meant I had to pull her into the studio and make her play me some songs. Since this conversation just last week, her debut album, Como Agua, was released into the world. So here's a conversation with an artist just on the brink of a very big transformation.

just released my debut album and I gotta say I'm proud of you. It feels like you think about something and you obsess about something because to make an album you have to be obsessed and you have to be delusional and you have to be crazy.

Your tiny desk is maybe even more a lot of lot a lot of sounds and genres and various things and so I know you have a very diverse music taste. So I was like, I wanna play a game with her I've never played with anyone on this show before. Because why not make you my guinea pig? Uh putting me on the spot. So what we're gonna do, you're coming on as a guest DJ, which we do do often, but usually When we bring people on as a guest DJ, we give them the opportunity to have information ahead of time.
