In 2022, Shelly was diagnosed with DCIS Stage zero breast cancer and thinking it not such a big deal, went on with her life. But Shelly learned soon after her diagnosis that she needed a lumpectomy. During the procedure, they discovered the pea sized lump was larger than anticipated and when the pathology report revealed non-clean margins, with the advice of her doctor, she made the decision to have a double mastectomy. Today, Shelly is 2 years clean and thankfully, she’s healed remarkably well.
