Chapter 1: What changes are being proposed to the terms 'mother' and 'father' in New York?
New York Democrats want to change the terms mother and father to gestating parent and non-gestating parent. And as a gestating parent, I'm pissed off. Happy Pride Month, I guess. Let's talk about it. Yeah, you better.
Yeah, you better.
Guys, before we get into today's video, please like and subscribe. Guys, I guess I'm not a mother anymore. I'm a gestating parent. At least that is possibly going to be the case in the state of New York, where Democrats have just proposed changing these terms in legal matters from mother and father to gestating parents and non-gestating parents.
I'm going to show you a news clip here so we can get straight into this. When I tell you there is a war on language right now, I mean it. Let's watch.
Kathy Hochul signs this bill sitting on her desk. A new law will make it illegal to call them mother and father. Nate Foy has the details on this. Nate? Hey, Jackie. So, yeah, New York Democrats argue the words mother and father are outdated and need to be replaced with more inclusive terms under state law. All that's needed now is Governor Kathy Hochul's signature.
So if Hochul approves in New York's family court and in domestic and education law, a mother would be labeled as a gestating parent, a father as a non gestating parent and paternity proceedings to determine the child's father would be called parentage proceedings. The bill passed the state Senate this week and the state assembly back in March.

Chapter 2: Why do some people feel offended by the term 'gestating parent'?
Governor Hochul proudly calls herself New York's first mom governor. It's unclear if she'll support this change though.
I'm not familiar with what was introduced late last night, so I'll take a look at it. I have until the end of the year to review them and make a decision, so I won't be commenting on pending legislation.
New York would join other states like Massachusetts, California, Connecticut, and Colorado to change the definition and wording of parents in their state laws. Democrats argue the bill is necessary to accommodate surrogacy cases and same-sex couples. Now, Governor Hochul's up for reelection this year.
Her main challenger, Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, tells Fox this morning this bill is a continuation of war declared on families by Democrats.
Guys, you can't make this stuff up. Now, they're saying that this change is necessary because they're dealing with same-sex couples and surrogacy cases. In the case of surrogacy, you have the surrogate who would be the gestating woman, I guess, but wouldn't be the mother. So why do you feel the need to change the term mother to gestating parent? For same-sex couples, you would still have
a father and a father and a mother and a mother so why is it necessary to change these terms in a legal sense i have a feeling there's more going on here that we're just trying to be inclusive with this language in order to be inclusive we're willing to push men and women and by that i mean biological men and biological women to the side even though they are mothers and fathers
And this is happening during pride month. So I think I'm connecting some dots. Changing paternity to parentage also makes no sense because a paternity test is a paternity test. It does in fact determine who is the father of the child or what male's DNA contributed to the making of the child. So make that make sense.
And even though I could sit here and nitpick all the different ways in which this is ridiculous, I just want to remind you guys that this is how your representatives have been spending their time. All this requires now is the governor's signature, which means this has passed in both of the governing bodies of New York. This is where they've been spending their time.

Chapter 3: What arguments are made for changing parental terminology in legal contexts?
This is what they've been debating. This is what your tax dollars have been going towards. Even though in New York, I think you guys are dealing with property and housing issues. I think you're dealing with public safety issues. They're late on passing a budget that is probably billions of dollars at the moment. But let's change mother and father to gestating parents and non-gestating parents.
That makes sense. As I said before, the war on language is very much real. We are now allowing small subsets of the population to dictate the way in which we refer to everybody. Now, because we have exceptions to the general population of mothers and fathers, we are now changing the way we refer to everybody. Why? I feel the same way about cis women.
Because trans people have come along and said that they can now adopt womanhood, we look at women who we've always referred to as women, and now we have to dictate whether or not they're cis women or trans women because this small set of the population said so. It seems the same thing is happening here, and not only is it unnecessary, but it's a slap in the face to mothers and fathers.
It's mother and father. Just leave it at that. If lawyers and legislators are running into issues with specific cases where mother and father don't necessarily apply or they're having trouble writing something to its fullest extent, I think we can fix that with, I don't know, set of parentheses? Not changing the terms mother and father. And with all the bigger fish that New York has to fry...
I think we could be focusing on something else, guys. Those are my thoughts on this as a gestating parent to be, oh my gosh, a mother. I'm a mother.
