We review new problems that didn’t previously exist but are now coming to the fore as building owners attempt to access their building data to generate an accurate picture of current performance and also plan for improvements. Currently, only one in five commercial buildings operate with a basic Building Management System, despite Europe being the third-largest energy consumer in the world. Policy is increasingly forcing positive environmental change (however, many would argue it has not happened fast enough) but, how can we forge a pathway for business owners to follow and act on new policy and legislation?
