welcome it's actually a really fun club to be part of yep yeah that that will pass thank you i can promise you that give it about 10 years oh okay only that only 10. all right yeah okay um well today we are diving into i don't know if you guys will remember the pamela smart case But I actually didn't. I don't think you did either, Lisa, right?
So I remember this case very well, but I didn't remember that was her name. I was thinking, is this related to Elizabeth Smart? But I do remember the case.
Yeah. I had to be a little refreshed. So what happened was, guys, if you don't remember, it was a murder that became this national sensation. It happened more than 35 years ago. And it is suddenly back in the headlines. So Pamela Smart is right now serving life without parole for her role in the 1990 murder of her husband, Greg, who was shot and killed by 15-year-old Billy Flynn. So he was a student that Pamela was having an affair with. She was 22 at the time. And there were three other kids that were involved, maybe four actually, but now she is fighting for a new trial. So there's all these new questions about the evidence that convicted her, what happened, why is the case back in court? you know, could one of America's most notorious murder convictions actually be reopened?
So that's what we're gonna talk about. And I watched the documentary and Elise watched the docudrama. Okay, so basically guys, May 1st, 1990, 24-year-old Greg Smart was shot and killed inside his Derry, New Hampshire condominium. So his then 22-year-old wife, Pamela Smart, was a high school media coordinator who had been having a sexual relationship with 15-year-old students William Billy Flynn. And the prosecutors allege that Smart orchestrated the murder because she feared losing everything in a divorce. Flynn testified that Smart told him she needed Greg killed and threatened to end their relationship if he did not kill him. So Smart has consistently denied ordering the murder.
Okay, and so the actual murder, Billy Flynn and 17-year-old Patrick Randall entered the Smart home.
