Many of us older gay guys are single, and as we age, we might lose contact with friends through relocation, illness, death, arguments; a host of reasons. And that can lead to isolation and eventual depression. One of the ways that I have dealt with loneliness over the years, is that I learned how to travel by myself and enjoy the experiences many times more than if I had a traveling companion. Now traveling alone for some, is a very strange concept. Why would you want to be alone? Isn't the point of traveling to be able to enjoy the location, sights, dinners, memories etc. with someone else? Maybe. But what if you don't have a boyfriend/husband or friends that want to travel to some of the exotic places you always dreamed of going? Should you wait until you have a partner to travel with? (We aren't getting any younger!) Or, do we have to give up on ever going to those places? I want to tell you about a few of my experiences with circling the globe alone and the self-sufficiency I learned along the way.
