The Uvalde police chief who’s gone into hiding

Nearly two weeks after the school shooting in Uvalde, many unanswered questions remain over the police response. The Texas Tribune describes Pete Arredondo, chief of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department, as a man in hiding.  Students lost the equivalent of months of in-person instruction during the pandemic.
