Chapter 1: What is the significance of Galentine's Day in this episode?

0.031 - 29.084

This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Hi, I'm Kristen Davis, and I want to know, are you a Charlotte? Heather, my love. Yes, thanks for having me back on your awesome podcast. I know, a two-time visitor. Only very special people get to come back twice. I feel lucky to have you. And we just had a really fun day. Thank you for being with me. Thank you.

29.284 - 43.724

I love driving you around in my new Hyundai Palisade Hybrid. It was awesome. I know, it's so spacious. Yes. We can just like stretch out and relax. I like being driven around by you. It was really fun.

0

43.804 - 56.886

It was fun because we're here in LA where we both live, but we've also both lived in New York and we had just rewatched the LA versions of Sex and the City where we came in like, I want to say the year 2000. Like so far.

0

56.866 - 79.583

long ago wow crazy right yeah and we went to so many places in the show that are really fun to look at just from an actor's standpoint like the warner brothers lie and then we drove around today our neighborhood and we went up beverly glen we got pies at winston pies we talked about good places to go so i was just curious like when did you move to la and how do you compare new york and la

0

80.457 - 98.242

Well, my family moved to L.A. when I was nine years old. Wow. And then I moved to Agora. So I was going to high school there and I started going on auditions to become an actress. Right. And then, you know, I moved into the city the minute I graduated high school. I moved to West Hollywood. And then I went to UCLA for a few years. Oh, wow. Yeah, I've lived in L.A. since I was nine.

98.442 - 109.27

You must have so many memories. I do. Is it a good thing when you drive around and you think about, oh, I remember my first audition at Warner Brothers or I remember going here? It's nostalgic.

109.35 - 125.716

I mean, there's definitely, I think LA is the kind of place, I don't know if you can relate, but sometimes I'm here and I love it and other times I get really sick of it, but then I leave and then I miss it so much when I come back, I remember why I love it. I mean, 100%. Absolutely. The whole time that we were doing the show, I had my house here. I got my house, I think, after the pilot.

126.137 - 128.261

And I remember Sarah Jessica saying, why did you do that?

Chapter 2: How do Kristin and Heather compare LA and NY lifestyles?

128.281 - 145.941

And I was like, well, because it's like this tree house and I love it because there's a part of me that needs the nature and the calmness. But then you do get bored. You can get a little bored. I think in LA, everyone's in the entertainment business. Okay, not everyone, but a majority of people. So everywhere you go, everyone's like, oh, my script, my thing, my thing.

0

146.242 - 163.51

So it is nice to meet people that are doing different things, but there's so many cool creative people here. I have so many friends here. That's one reason why I love LA. Absolutely, me too. I mean, coming back, it's very easy when you've been gone, you know, because sometimes when we're on location or whatever, it's kind of hard. I mean, we're in the winter, and it's 80 degrees here today.

0

163.67 - 182.914

Absolutely. You cannot beat that, right? No, we cannot beat that. We had a fun little picnic with, like— lemonade and pies. Yes, yes. My dream of, I feel like I was on Sex and the City today. I'm so glad. And you look very glamorous. Very, very, more glamorous than me. I had to dress up with being with a fashion icon. I had to like kind of dress up.

0

182.994 - 186.942

I'm so not, I play a fashion icon, but I am not a fashion icon. You kind of are one.

0

186.922 - 204.12

you're so sweet I don't think I don't I don't think of myself that way because I do feel like sometimes in life especially in LA which the vibe is like really relaxed sometimes when now I'm out in the world like at the grocery store or whatever I feel like people are like oh they're disappointed that you're not more dressed up yes that's

204.1 - 233.128

funny i know you look very glamorous thank you i try i'm not trying i just have my like chanel jacket and my chloe like jeans i'm not trying that's because you're here no it's because you're here it's only for you normally i just throw on some yoga clothes i know yeah right me too and then people are like oh yeah i'm like i'm i feel the pressure you know i do i do but you always look incredible all right let's compare when did you live in new york

233.378 - 249.982

Oh, well, I have a place in New York still. No way. So I bought my apartment in 2001 and I still have it. Yeah. That was so smart. Yes, yes, yes. I never bought. I always rented. And then at a certain point. You must have had a place there. I had a place that I really love. Where? By the park, Central Park West. It was like where the Fuddy Duddy people lived.

250.002 - 269.45

That's very Charlotte of you to live out there. I know, right? So Charlotte. Because I always had my dogs with me, right? So then I needed the park and I love the park. But then there came a time and it was like. But downtown is cooler, right? Right. Oh, my God. So cool. And I mean, I have friends who don't want to come, you know, north of 14th Street and it's challenged. But I just go down.

269.57 - 289.602

It's fine. I go down. I get it. But now because I don't have a place anymore because my business manager at a certain point was like, that's not smart. All right. So now I stay in Airbnb. So you get to pick and choose and kind of live all the different. So what's your favorite neighborhood in New York? Well, we did a Brooklyn summer. That's nice. Incredible. I love Brooklyn. Prospect Park.

Chapter 3: What are some favorite food spots mentioned by the hosts?

794.19 - 823.216

And they put funny comparison memes. It was really adorable. Oh, my God. Anyway, that's a very random reference. I want to see it. Audition stories. A horror story. Do you have an audition? Okay, well, do you remember, this is before they had, whatever, GPS, right? I don't know if you had this, but when you were- The Thomas Guide? Yes, the Thomas Guide. Yes!

0

823.236 - 841.407

So you'd be auditioning in LA, and you'd have like, because I didn't really know the city that well, so you have this book, and it's like page 39741. Now they're like, go to 5869. While you're driving. And you're trying to like flip through the pages like- I know. And then some of my pages would fall out because they were like the ones that we went to a lot.

0

841.768 - 854.736

And so I'd be like, where's the page go? It'd be on the floor. Wait, did you have this like where you brought different outfits in your car? Because maybe one role you went up for was like the sweet, innocent girl. And the other one was like the slutty, like whatever. And then you're like, oh, the sophisticated businesswoman. So I have like,

0

854.716 - 872.289

five outfits in my car and sometimes I changed while I was driving which is probably really unsafe but I was just like yes because it wasn't like a good place at all of the audition places it's crazy it's like it could take you like 45 minutes yeah you had to like you never knew oh my god can you believe everything we went through and now everyone self tapes So you use the Thomas Guide?

0

872.309 - 893.83

Oh, the Thomas Guide. I mean, how would we have lived? I don't know. Now it's so easy. You're just like, address, bam. I mean, thank goodness. Someone tells you what to do. Thank goodness that Hyundai has that nice map. I mean, I really dig that. I need kind of a large map, you know, that's not going to be hard to look at because, you know, the eyesight isn't what it used to be. So I'm excited.

893.91 - 915.142

I'm excited about that nice big screen in the Hyundai. I'm digging it. It's nice, for sure. I know, right? Yeah. Okay, horror story or just the Thomas guide? Horror story about auditioning. I mean, what about you? Do you have one? I mean, I have to dredge to come up with one. I mean, gosh, I'm sure I have so many. I do remember this one time just floated through my head.

915.182 - 932.466

Remember how, like, you would go, and then they'd call you back, and they'd call you back, and they'd call you back, and then sometimes you wouldn't get it? One time there was some movie. It was horrible. Some horrible film. I can't even remember the name. And I really wanted it, and I got really close. It was between me and one other girl. And in the end, I didn't get it.

932.486 - 954.19

The other girl got it, and I was like, why? Why? And they said... She was wearing red lipstick. What? That makes no sense. I know. It was good. Like you could just wear red lipstick. I was like, they could have asked me to wear red lipstick. But it was one of those moments where you really go like, oh, okay. It's all ridiculous. Yeah. Everything about this is ridiculous.

954.21 - 969.056

Yeah, that is ridiculous. Like, it helped me see that. I think that's why I still remember it. Wow. Like, that was, like, a valid reason. Like, a valid reason. I mean, I feel like I would go on auditions, and sometimes you could tell, like, oh, these people really like me. Like, I have a good chance. And then there's occasionally you go on auditions, you're like, these people really hate me. Yeah.

Chapter 4: How do Kristin and Heather feel about fashion and shopping?

1243.215 - 1250.765

It was really interesting. Was it okay? Yeah. Okay, good. And when you got it, what did you do? Like, what were your— Well, I was super nervous because they took forever to tell me.

0

1250.825 - 1271.03

Like, you know how you would—I don't know if you ever did this in the olden days— when you would audition for something that was, like, a big deal, a big network deal, they had, like, a date that they had to tell you by. They waited until, like, midway through the day of the final date. Wow. I mean, it was so stressful, right? Wow. And I had gone to a movie to try to get through the day.

0

1271.05 - 1288.69

And I remember I was in Santa Monica at the AMC and I was walking through that parking lot. And I had my cranky big cell phone back then, you know, and I called Dave, my manager. I was like, what? Have you heard from them? And he was like, yes, you got it. And I was like, oh, thank God. But I was just like relieved. Do you know what I'm saying?

0

1288.71 - 1296.979

Like I had built up so much angst at that point that I wasn't even happy. I don't think, I don't think I was happy until we went to New York. And then I was, it was like,

0

1296.959 - 1316.318

whole world opened up you know which was really fun i know it was exciting and also it's just so exciting to be able to be in both worlds that's great you know also i wouldn't it okay this is just me interviewing you but i would love to be like dressed by patricia field right oh incredible incredible imagine just like okay make me cool and then she just does right

1316.365 - 1336.367

Well, it wasn't exactly like that because I was playing Charlotte, right? Okay. So you weren't supposed to be. I mean, you were cool. Well, yes, cool, but Charlotte, right? And in my mind, I had an image of what I thought she should be. And I went to the Upper East Side and did a lot of research. But Pad didn't necessarily agree with me. Okay. What were you thinking and what was it?

1336.387 - 1360.48

I was thinking, like, what I saw on the Upper East Side. Do you know what I'm saying? Which is what? Like— Classic Ralph Lauren, long straight brown hair. You know, like constrained. But that's not really how Pat thinks, as we all know. So what did she think? She, wow. I mean, in the beginning, she tried to dress me in all kind of crazy things. And I was like, no. And then she was stressed.

1360.46 - 1381.691

And then I remember one time Darren took me out to dinner. And whenever Darren called you to go out to dinner, you knew that you were in some trouble. So you were just waiting. You were just gossiping and talking until he told you what you were in trouble for. So we were walking home. We both lived on Central Park West at the time. We were walking home, and I was like, Darren, what is it?

1381.991 - 1407.346

We're walking home. And he said, I just want you to trust Pat because she knows better than you do. In other words, your taste is bad, so listen. Right, definitely. But at that point, it wasn't even my taste. I just wanted her to be identifiable as an Upper East Side. But Pat was so downtown that I think she found that boring. Right?
