#19 Neon Signs Hong Kong - Meet a Modern Artist Of The Classic Neon Craft

16 Dec 2019

Description

I am exploring neon signs in Hong Kong with a modern artist using classic neon craft. Hong Kong neon signs have been a part of Hong Kong history, so I decided to explore how the traditional neon has changed from commercial use to a modern art medium. I had this great opportunity to chat with neon light maker - Karen Chan, who has the privilege of studying the traditional neon craft alongside one of the oldest neon masters. You will hear Karen's story about how she started working with neon lights and a detailed process of how to make a traditional neon with contemporary purpose - visual art. We will also chat about Karen's newest art project and neon art exhibition in Hong Kong alongside answering questions about the tools, cost, and challenges with making the neon lights.
