This week’s episode features Austin, Texas, based artist Pratiksha of PMuirArt. Pratiksha has had an interesting segway into the art world because her previous job required her to sell, sell, sell to the point of actually getting used to hearing the word “no.” And that’s what sales is, right? Giving your pitch to whoever might need your product, or in our case our art product, and letting them decide if it’s a fit. We talk about taking your emotions out of the sales process and realizing that the customer isn’t saying no to you specifically, they just might not need what you’re offering. I think so many of us wrap our identities into our work which makes it hard to hear any kind of feedback or rejection, which can ultimately keep us from continuing to put ourselves out there to sell. I just want to say that you have an amazing product that is PERFECT for a specific person but if you don’t kiss a bunch of frogs in order to get to your perfect person then it might not happen. I think Pratiksha gives so much good advice for getting out of your own head and into a business mindset which can ultimately set you up to make some major sales down the road.
