Erin and Heyd have invited Dr. Fahamu Pecou to ponder the Netflix re-released film Sankofa, directed by Haile Gerima, which was made possible by the innovator Ava DuVernay, director, writer and producer. Fahamu shares personal stories of his childhood and insights as a Black artist and father, connecting his experiences and practice to the philosophy of Sankofa, which translates to "go back, look for, and gain wisdom, power and hope".
