Well, it's great to talk to you. It's been a couple minutes since we had you here on ETL, although, of course, we're chatting regularly down at the ballpark and keeping tabs on everything that's going on. But with Arden in transit to Texas today, it's kind of a perfect chance to bring you aboard.
and basically discuss the state of things. I think we can zoom out just a little bit, take stock of where the team is going into this final 10-day stretch, and maybe even zoom out and look at the season as a whole a little bit, how we got to this point. So to start, I mean, three series, nine games, Jays are pushing. It was a tough series against the Tigers this week. What do you make of this final 10-day, nine-game stretch that the Blue Jays are entering?
Yeah, I think it's, you know, every game has the meaning of like or the feeling of like a postseason game in the last few weeks. But I didn't feel like that was the case with the baseball being played during the series against the Tigers. I don't know about how you felt, but for me, it just felt on both teams kind of felt a little bit lackluster, like the quality of baseball, especially in that finale with the amount of errors the Tigers made and mental mistakes. It just I didn't enjoy that. So looking at the schedule, I think kind of the schedule makers pulled off like a dream scenario, getting the Jays to face the Rangers and the Orioles. I mean, Rangers are tied with the Blue Jays entering Friday's game.
The O's are one game back of both of them. So this is as good as it gets. So for me... I want to see like, I'm very excited to see tense, you know, edge of your seat baseball in the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth inning over this, over the course of this road trip. I'm very excited to see that. And, you know, the blue, like, you know, this is in the Blue Jays' hands, basically. Like either you can kind of determine your fate if you just keep winning. And so manager John Schneider has said, you know, we're focused on going 1-0 every day. So all of this kind of amounts to a very exciting finish, and I'm very excited for it the rest of the
way. Two games back, nine to play. Yeah, it's a significant deficit. They have to go, I would say, minimum 2-1 against the Rangers. Like they can't lose this series against Texas, right? It's got to be minimum 2-1.
Oh, 100%. Yeah. And I mean, you like your chances with Cease and Soriano. So yeah, I mean, and even watching on Thursday night, Texas was leading and then blew the game late to the Red Sox. I mean, this Texas Rangers team is not a perfect team. Very few teams in the American League are perfect. But yeah, I agree with you on that take. The Jays have to win two out of three.
Yeah, so the pressure's on there. Then Baltimore finish it with Cincinnati. They're going to have to win probably every series, maybe even sweep a series or two in there. It's got to be probably at least six wins. Even six wins gets them to 82. I mean, this is the story of this whole season. They are not a juggernaut. That's been pretty clearly established. But specifically, okay, beyond the fate of the team and beyond the – you know, tense baseball that we're anticipating in the course of the next nine games. What are some of the individual things that you're going to be watching for as this plays out?
I think for me, it starts with Vladdy. I mean, maybe this is a boring answer, but Vladimir Guerrero Jr., like, I'm most interested in what happens with him. So he had that four-hit game with the Homer at Rogers Center last Sunday, it would have been. And it kind of felt like, in some ways...
