Chapter 1: What makes baseball fans passionate and creative?

0.031 - 20.004 Unknown

Yeah, there should be some passion. This doesn't have to be boring, boring, boring. You don't get bored by baseball. Okay, one thing the game needs is more people like you, you, you. Still have grown men run around tight hands. It's Mookie Betts. It's Daniel Bard. It's Steve Aoki. Here's Saltz Lamacchia. This is Brock Holtz. Hey, this is John Lester. Baseball is baseball. Baseball isn't boring.

Friends and family, have you seen it? Oh, there is no doubt. Oh, career average at 294. Oh, the OPS is really key. He's had an 806, and now he's in the mix. He's gonna slug, he's gonna have the trip.

Maxis, Maxis, Maxis, Max got boobies, yeah Maxis, Maxis, Maxis, Max got boobies, yeah

102.732 - 128.448 Rob Bradford

All right, there's absolutely no human being on the planet we would like to talk to more than Jordan Simpson right now. That's a fact. It's a fact. Let's go. We just played the intro music. This is the intro music. We just played it. your Bo Bichette song. It's so good. It's so good. It's so good. Welcome back, man. Like second time on the podcast.

128.468 - 152.917 Rob Bradford

Well, first time with me, I was going back and as I was just telling you, It was almost a year exactly the producer of him was hosting. I don't know where I was. I apologize for not being here, Jordan. It's all good. You're all good. No, thank you for having me. It was a good convo, though. It was a good convo. Yeah, so I should also mention Social's J.R. Simpson music. Very important.

153.437 - 172.458 Rob Bradford

Because if you want to get reference to a lot of stuff that we're going to be talking about, you're going to want to go there. And also, I don't want to, I want to make sure, I always like to get the important stuff out of the way so I don't fumble it later. The Jingle Man, your other guy, your collaborator, Greg, Greg, correct? Correct, yeah, yeah, yeah.

172.798 - 180.765 Jordan Simpson

Do we not want to say his last name or is it a secret? I mean, it's not, I mean, I don't know. I guess we'll leave it at Greg. I don't know if you want to try to say it or not.

Chapter 2: How did Jordan Simpson become a diehard Mets fan?

385.557 - 394.653 Rob Bradford

Yeah. And so do you go, do you remember, here's another cliche question, but I love asking it anyway. Do you remember the first time you went to a major league baseball game?

0

398.419 - 425.683 Jordan Simpson

I went to, I mean, The first ones I can remember, I definitely went when I was a kid, almost like a baby. Okay, before the John Mayne game. I think I do remember, though, when I was in elementary school, each year we did do a Mets outing. The end of the school year, each year we would go. I remember going to those when I was in first grade.

0

426.243 - 431.848 Jordan Simpson

That was my first time really just actively remembering going to a game

0

431.828 - 456.165 Jordan Simpson

just watching it and then uh i remember at that point being like mom what is an inning what does that mean why is there a mini baseball field out there it was a bullpen so like i was asking like a lot of like the the very basic innocent questions that like somebody who doesn't follow at all wouldn't uh wouldn't know the answer to but um that's really like the earliest like i can physically remember really are those times

0

456.314 - 471.353 Rob Bradford

I always say this, and actually other people have said that the common thread when you go to a game that you remember, because again, when you talk about remembering that spring training game, baseball is weird that way. It makes you remember things.

471.333 - 493.071 Rob Bradford

crazy crazy intricate things and a lot of people when they go to that first game and maybe it was you in first grade in the field trip it's like oh man the whites are never whiter the greens are never greener it's like you know the blues are never bluer you know that whole thing so I don't know if you felt that way or not I remember just like walking I mean

493.743 - 514.046 Jordan Simpson

I always have a fascination for just venues, even if it's not like a baseball venue, but just seeing a venue of some sort. And I remember as a kid driving past Shea Stadium, sometimes if you're going into the city, you're like, whoa, that's a big blue building. And it just kind of fascinated you. When you walk in, and Shea Stadium is like so unique or was so unique. I still miss that place.

514.326 - 531.192 Jordan Simpson

But like when you walk in and like how the aisles were and you kind of get that ballpark smell. And just the way that the seats were the different colors at each level. There were just so many things of like, whoa, this is like massive. And this is the same place I watch on TV. Now I'm physically in this building kind of thing, you know?

531.543 - 559.474 Rob Bradford

man you were you were scratching right where i hit i mean that's exactly what i think a lot of people feel that same way that drive by a big stadium it's it's sort of like if you if you're making a trip down the east coast from i don't know northeast of florida if you drive by a stadium like that's the highlight of your day oh 100 right it's crazy 100 i love even i've done uh like gigs

Chapter 3: What inspired Jordan to merge music with baseball content?

2315.622 - 2332.632 Jordan Simpson

Spiro can be great, but how consistent he's going to be. Peterson was great. Then he was rough the second half, so there were a lot of ups and downs, and Kodai Sango's a wild card. So I think that the potential, the ceiling is there, but I think the four just has to be raised enough where you feel comfortable. But...

0

2332.797 - 2352.696 Jordan Simpson

At the end of the day, right now, I feel like moves are going to be made enough where I'm like, you know what? I feel good. I think there's always chaos in the offseason. And there have been times in the past where around this time we're feeling great. This year is not one of those years, apparently. But I think we'll get to a point soon where...

0

2352.676 - 2365.777 Jordan Simpson

you know, once Bichette, you know, as he signed, then you have more moves to come. And I think things will kind of make more sense because right now there's still some, you know, puzzle pieces and things that are kind of just in a bit of disarray that don't make much sense right now.

0

2366.498 - 2373.209 Jordan Simpson

But I don't think when you signed Juan Soto last year to the contract that you did, that you're going to take a step back the second you're into it.

0

2373.229 - 2391.223 Rob Bradford

Yeah. You just hit the nail on the head. I just said that to, what did I say that to? Was it Zach Scott? I don't know. But I said this too. I said, hey, listen, as long as you have Juan Soto, the expectation is you're going to win. That's it. That's it. That's it. And by the way, the Mets, they won.

2391.383 - 2410.898 Rob Bradford

Them and the Diamondbacks probably won the offseason last year, and neither team made the playoffs. Exactly. I like how optimistic you are. I try my best. It's good. It's good. Again, this is one of the great things. You make me feel better. You make me feel better about when I, that I woke up this morning. Yeah. All right, man.

2410.918 - 2421.175 Rob Bradford

Well, I really appreciate everything and, and please keep in touch and, and we'll be screaming from the mountaintops about your excellence. So thanks, man. Appreciate you. Thank you.
