Chapter 1: What is Payton Tolle's perspective on trade rumors?
And I know that you've probably been asked that before, but it's probably not.
It's actually the first time. The only time that I've talked about it is with family and friends, but it's different. Yeah. It's, I mean, I really, I now I'm kind of off social media. So like really the, like, Oh, well look at like the new, I'll look up red socks and try to find the news of the day. And like, I was a day late on, Whitlock making Team USA super behind now.
Twitter is an amazing thing, but it's also like the worst thing ever. So I just got rid of it.
Chapter 2: How does social media influence a player's mindset during trade deadlines?
But like, kind of, I just try to, it's just, I don't know.
Did you have social media during the trade deadline last year?
I did. Yeah. Well, I didn't have Twitter. I had Instagram.
You also had friends and family.
Exactly, yeah. That Dustin May trade went through, and I had a coach text me. It was like, are you going to be playing in Tulsa or in Oklahoma City for one of the Dodger teams this week? And I'm like, what do you mean? What are you talking about? Do you know something that I don't? Um, but I mean, it's like kind of one of those things, like, it's just, uh, that's the nature.
That's the nature of the game. And, uh, it's, I'm not going to sit here and act like it's not part of it. Cause it's a part of it, but you know, it's like, yeah. what can I do about it?
Or have you become better at it? Like, that's the thing. Like, this is, again, when last July, when your name, and even, like, on August 1st, August 2nd, August 3rd, when your name's still, like... you become better at dealing with it, right? Part of that is getting rid of social media. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, but do you understand?
I guess the question is, do you understand exactly what you're saying? Is that, hey, listen, this is what it is. And if you could go through the entire clubhouse and every guy in there has dealt with something similar, you know?
Yeah, everybody deals with it. I think I started to... you know, you really started to hear it, uh, getting into Portland. Cause like you got, you get into like all the stuff with like rule of five eligible guys and like, you know, guys that think, Oh, I'm gone. I'm gone. I'm gone. They're, they're kind of talking about it all the time. And it's like, well, okay.

But, uh, it was, uh, Yeah, I needed to bring back... I got... A couple people said I needed to be Ron Swanson this year. But... Tom Selleck... I need to do another Tom Selleck. Maybe like a Wyatt Earp.
Maybe next year. Really get the stash going.
Oh, yeah. Are you committed to that now?
For a while? The stash? Yeah. Yes. I've been told there's a couple people that are like, you need to have facial hair because we don't like baby face. I'm like, well, baby face is a lot easier to keep up with. I like the mustache. I think it's fun. I don't know.
It's
It seems like other people like it.

I come around, the beard might come back. I might shave it for the off season and then come back spring training and start growing it back out again. I might... Maybe I won't shave until we make the postseason or something like that.
It's good for your brand, man. It was awesome seeing... I don't know if you saw the... So I'm walking out of Fenway Park, I think after your debut, and these two young ladies who I've seen around... I shouldn't mention them. I'm drawing a blank right now. But they're just sitting on the sidewalk wearing... The Peyton Tully mustache.
I saw a couple people doing it. It's fun. If somebody can get that out of me keeping a mustache, that's perfectly fine with me.

I love that.
We're just here. Again, your brand has never been hotter. Congratulations.
Thank you.
You've been very generous with your time. It's always good to talk to you. I hope I didn't lecture about the media too much.
No, it's good. It's good. I think this is a lot better than any other part. Like this is this, we got into some good stuff. It's a meaty stuff today. I like it.

Chapter 6: How does Payton Tolle feel about the nature of trade discussions?
It's two guys talking. Like I had, it was just two days ago. I had Dustin Bedroia telling me like, like I was a terrible dresser. So I'm like, it's okay. It's just like, it's just two guys talking. Yes. Yes. Yeah. But, uh, all right, man. Thank you so much. Thank you.
