No, there's a lot and you know, when Marcelo, like I said yesterday or two days ago, you know, We'll give him the baton, but he has to run. If he wants to be the starting second baseman in Cincinnati, there's a lot of work to do. It's not a given that he's second baseman or third baseman for this team.
There's a lot of things that he needs to show us this spring, and we expect him to do that because he's that talented. But at the same time, there's a lot of guys here that can do the job.

You know, I think he was doing an outstanding job towards the end. We need to control the zone, not chase so many pitches. So we will see some trends, you know, and if we feel comfortable with him, he'll be the guy.
When you did see him at third last year in that chunk of games, like what did you like about what he was able to do?

You talk about the tradition of this game. Obviously you're worried about your team, but you look up and down that roster, there's kids all around New England and Boston and you know what that means to them today.
Yeah. Like I always said, I was that kid in Miami. You know, we went to play the Marlins and it was Chef, it was CJ, it was Kevin Brown, those guys. And we felt, big leaguers for one day. You know, it was a cool experience and hopefully, you know, today they can have a good time and talk to the players and have a blast at the stadium.
The BP is kind of a cool experience, right, when they get to talk to them a little bit? 100%. I think that's, as a kid, that's what you're looking forward to. Who's around, talk to some guys, I bet, you know, they can relate.
Well, they can relate to a lot of guys in this clubhouse, but just the whole experience, just to come here, just be a big leader for one day, and then I think tomorrow, go get them somewhere, you know? And we hope they're nothing but the best.

Those are examples of where we're at now. He knows where the conference room is. He knows what time of the meeting is. He knows how to look at the schedule.
He knows what he needs to do to get back to the big leagues, which is the most important thing.
Did you know the contract thing was going on last year?
like when he was like because he would say he did the workouts and he would go home and talk on the phone and last spring training um i know a lot yeah i'm not arguing that sounds a little defensive i know a lot what are your expectations for zach kelly this year uh be consistent you you see the body is different there's something we challenged him a few years ago and finally
He was able to execute during the off-season. He looks great. Now he's getting Zach to be good two or three times a week, not only once. We all go back to that game against the Yankees, right? Striking out the side with the bases loaded. But then you go back to his last outing two years ago at Yankee Stadium, up four, and we walked the world and we ended up losing.
So avoid those outings and be more consistent.
