Chapter 1: What mindset do the managers have going into Game 6 of the World Series?
Do you look at it as one season, or has it kind of been like two or three at this point?
One, to be honest with you. I think that whenever you start a spring training, this is kind of where you want to end up. Doesn't always happen, so you have to appreciate it, but yeah, man, this is the story of the 2025 Blue Jays. Pretty cool.
Third row on the right side. John, when you're in the middle of things that are happening live, George hitting the home run, Yosevich doing what he did last night, these incredible, maybe for the ages, kind of baseball moments, are you able to sort of be part of what the history of it is, or are you too busy managing to appreciate all that's going on?
A little bit of both, but much more so kind of in the moment with what you're doing. Those two particular moments, I think, appreciated the magnitude of George's swing in game seven for a few seconds and with a few players in the dugout. And then Trey was kind of, it was kind of like a slow drip, you know what I mean, over seven innings.
So you, I mean, I just remember at one point I said to Pete, I said, how many strikeouts is that? And he was at 10, because you kind of lose track of that a little bit. When you're following along in the order and things like that, all right, who's coming up next?
But man, there were some funny adjectives between myself and Pete after a lot of those pitches that Trey threw that were in the zone and then out of the zone. So it was fun to watch, but I think that you're a little bit more in the moment of managing than you are kind of being a fan. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, those are okay names to be a part of. I saw that last night, too. That's pretty impressive.
Arding on the left side here. John, how close did George get to starting yesterday's game?
He was right on the fence. I think he probably could have, you know what I mean? And I was really juggling what's best for him, what's best for the team, not just immediately to start the game, but kind of how that game may unfold too. He was close, you know what I mean?

Chapter 2: How do managers appreciate historic moments during intense games?
He was close and he was ready to come in, and I'm glad we didn't need him and got him an extra couple days, but hopefully he's good to go tomorrow. Yeah, what's your kind of expectation for game six? What kind of boxes does he still have to check? Not many, to be honest with you. I think just making sure he feels comfortable and confident tomorrow, you know what I mean?
And not just for, you know, one at bat, you know, to go in and to compete and kind of get locked into a game. So he's kind of checked every box physically so far. So see how tomorrow goes.
Staying on the left side, Shay. Hey, John. Day later... just as you're thinking back to some of the things that Trey did just that played out yesterday that you maybe beforehand warm up, like what are some of the things that you'll, that you'll really remember from Trey's day yesterday?
It's going to sound funny. The initial comebacker that he kind of bobbled and then the way he flipped it to Vlad kind of showed me he was where he should be mentally and didn't panic. The double play to end the seventh, obviously, I'll remember that. The number of pitches he threw, I'll remember that. That's a new high mark for him.
But I think just striking out four or five in a row, when he got into a rhythm there, it was fun to watch. those are the things that jump out. You know, there's a lot of quality pitches. You know, there's some big, big strikeouts. Striking out, I believe it was Alex Call to not get Otani up to the plate. It was, he kind of avoided some dangerous areas too.
So, I mean, I was, like I said last night, I was kind of in awe of a lot of what he did.
And Davis was saying there wasn't a lot of sleep on the plane last night coming home. I'm just wondering what the vibe is on a flight like that, knowing there's an off day, but just understanding that the next game you play, you can clinch a World Series title list.
Yeah, the vibe was exactly how it always is coming home with an off day, you know what I mean? Again, I was impressed kind of walking through the clubhouse after I get done talking to you guys. There's obviously just more people in the clubhouse than a regular season, but I was impressed with just kind of the back and forth that was happening.
not getting too high and kind of getting ready to get on the bus and get on a plane and come back here and get ready to play so the vibe was good but it was nothing different than what it usually it has been this season um i actually texted my wife and i said she said hey how are you doing and you're having fun and i said i'm actually kind of calm which is weird you know what i mean it's just after three days like that in an 18 inning game um

Chapter 3: What was the decision-making process for player George's participation?
I thought Schneid does what he is good at. Vladimir is one of the best players in the game. And I thought we really made him work. You know what I mean? He's a great pitcher. And I'm worried about tomorrow game six here. Um, Yamamoto's an even tougher task. So, um, we led the league in hitting this year. I don't think we're too bad. That was going to be my next question is Yamamoto.
How do you get to him coming off back to back complete games? Man, hopefully he's a little tired, you know, um, throwing that many innings. He he's, he's unique because he's got what seems like six or seven pitches. Um, And can kind of morph into different pitchers as the game kind of goes on, you know, you got to be stuck.

Stubborn, you have to be ready to hit, and you have to be stubborn with what kind of swings you're taking. That's what it comes down to. He's not a guy you can kind of wait out. He's going to pound the zone. Sometimes you've got to force some action on him, you know what I mean, if he's going really well. So I think having seen him will help us.
We hadn't seen him in the regular season, so get some feedback from the guys and formulate a plan with Pop and Lou and Hunter and get after it.
We'll do two more in the back right corner.
Hey, John. Still on Yamamoto. Was there a lot to learn from just that one start? Are there a lot of takeaways from that that you can take into tomorrow?
I think it's always easier when you actually see a guy and kind of feel what his stuff is playing like and kind of what it does in comparison to other guys you've faced. The delivery is a little unique, obviously, and there's some deception there, but that's about it. It just comes down to putting together a good plan and kind of seeing how he's going to attack.

Chapter 4: What were the standout moments from Trey's performance in the previous game?
Hey Dave, could you see any more lineup changes to try to spark something? Or is the way you see it, it kind of has to be on those nine guys to get something?
I might change it up a little bit, but yeah, I'm contemplating, but I'm still kind of up in the air. So it could be a little bit of a change.
And you talked yesterday about the possibility of Shohei being available in relief. Could that be as soon as tomorrow, game six, or...?
You know, we'll see how he comes in tomorrow. But, you know, right now, obviously, when you're facing elimination, then you've got to have those conversations. So whatever it takes for us to win tomorrow, and obviously, you know, Yama's going and then we're going to do whatever we can to put our best foot forward on the run prevention side, and then on the creation side and scoring runs too.
And this is a hypothetical, since you'd have to get to a game seven. But if you get there, you don't use them tomorrow to kind of, I don't know, I guess better use like the two-way rule with him. Would you consider using him as an opener instead of in relief?
I think we'd consider everything. And it's more of just kind of doing whatever we can, Sonya, to get through tomorrow and then pick up the pieces and then see what's the best way to attack a potential game seven. So everything should be on the table and will be for sure. Questions? We'll go to Bob here on the third row.
Hey, Dave, with everything you guys have gone through this year, with the injuries, the pitching problems, on your way out here, did you ever think, hey, it's supposed to wind up this way? It wasn't supposed to be easy? This is only natural?
Yeah, absolutely. I think that I'm in good spirits. Our coaches are. What better way to win the World Series in Game 7? But we've got to win tomorrow. And, you know, the thing that's encouraging for me is I know I gave our players an option to, you know, not work out today because of, you know, the long series and 18 innings and travel and all that stuff. And not one guy took the option.
So that was pretty exciting for me and just speaks to where these guys are at that, you know, they realize that the job's not done and we're going to keep going and keep fighting. In the back row.

Chapter 5: What is the vibe like for the team after a long travel and intense series?
Yep. And we'll take one more question here in the middle on the left side. Hi, Dave. One more thing about Shohei. You said everything on the table, but using him as a reliever, the risk is you might lose the edge spot. So I'm just curious. Have you ever talked to Shohei about playing actually outfield potentially? Yeah, we'll talk about everything.
So we'll kind of talk through whatever is the best. Like I said before, if we get to that point, we'll see. But he's not going to play the outfield tomorrow. I do know that. But, you know, if we get to game seven, we'll have a good discussion about everything.
And one more quick one from Ron.
Just wondering, what was the thought process in having the players go right after the game and the staff going the next day? That's just more player-driven. They like to get to the cities and kind of get situated. All right, Dave, thanks a lot. Appreciate you coming in. Thanks, guys.
Yep.
