Thanks. Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot, but we... I think we did a good job of balancing it all and I wanted to be one source for people to look at what moves the needle in reversing cellular age and the different manifestations of that and how that shows up in different ways and for different people.
Yeah. So can we jump right in? Yeah. Like, obviously, you got together with Josh Axe, decided to write this book, but it truly takes it down to the cellular level and cellular aging and how it can manifest in specific organs. And like your, you know, whichever organ is aging the fastest can really be to your detriment of your whole system. But what is cellular aging and how do we measure it?
Yeah, so one of the studies that we talk about in the book is kind of what we were referencing. It was a Stanford study published in 2023 in Nature. And it found one in five adults over the age of 50 had one organ aging significantly more rapidly than the rest of their body. Uneven aging
that's
happening in the body. And what that means is that the cells that make up that organ If they are aging more rapidly, they're at an increased risk of some heart or some health problem of that organ. So if your heart was aging more rapidly, the cells of your heart were aging more rapidly, you were at over 200% increased risk of a heart attack, stroke, heart failure. If your brain cells were aging more rapidly, you were at over 80% increased risk of some neurodegenerative problem. If your liver cells were aging more rapidly, it was upwards of 50% of different liver health problems. So this is significantly important because we're aging faster than ever before. There was a study published just this past summer.
It was also in Nature. It found people born after 1965 were aging more rapidly than people born prior to 1965. And even more shockingly, shockingly, millennials, people that are born in the 90s, people, and certainly we can talk about the statistics of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, it's even worse, but this study didn't cover that. Millennials were aging more rapidly than people born in 1965 at the same age. So it is basically, you could say, based on the data that we have, every decade after 1965 is aging faster than the decade prior. So we have many people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s that have senior citizen cells. And that's why things like type 2 diabetes, it used to be called adult onset diabetes. Now, as you well know about the research, 38% of preteens are pre-diabetic.
Why? It's because their liver cells are aging more rapidly. It used to be an adult thing. Now it's a baby thing. Now it's a toddler, a young child thing.
