In this episode, Scott Becker shares a reminder to stop investing time and energy into people or activities that offer nothing in return.
Chapter 1: What does it mean to stop giving oxygen to draining relationships?
This is Scott Becker with the Becker Business Podcast, the Becker Private Equity Podcast. Today's discussion is don't give oxygen to things that don't return the oxygen. So here's the deal.
If you have people in your life that don't respond to you well, if you got people you're trying to chase as friends and they're not great friends to you, don't give them the time, don't give them the energy, don't let it seep your oxygen.
If you're doing certain activities and you come away from every one of those activities distressed and feeling like you're having a horrible time, don't give that activity oxygen.
Chapter 2: How can I identify activities that drain my energy?
Don't lean into that activity. Find something else to do with your time and your life. This is an important concept. It's almost the great concept of Peter Drucker, the great strategic planner and business person and business author, one of the ā First real business writers used to essentially say that just as important as what you choose to do is what you choose not to do.
Chapter 3: What insights does Peter Drucker's philosophy provide on time investment?
And many people have said this. I remember Peter Drucker saying it the most famously. But the concept is don't invest time and energy into activities and people that don't give you that time and energy back. That's the concept for the day. We hope somebody relates this well.
Chapter 4: What are the practical steps to reclaim my energy and focus?
