I sit down with Sharni to hear her powerful story of resilience, courage, and determination. Born with a complex congenital heart condition, Sharni faced open-heart surgery as a newborn and again as an adult, when her health took a critical turn. Sharni takes us back to the beginning of her health journey, sharing the physical and emotional challenges of living with her condition, the pivotal moment that led to her second surgery, and her time in the hospital, including complications that required a pacemaker. She opens up about the toll this journey has taken on her body and mind and the long path to recovery she continues to navigate. Despite everything, Sharni’s story is one of perseverance. Sharni also shares her strategies for maintaining a positive mindset, the role her mum and loved ones played in supporting her, and how she practices self-care on the toughest days through surfing and her art.
