There has long been talk of government merging TVNZ and RNZ into a new public media entity. Cabinet is said to have finally made it's decision on the matter, and is expected to announce the merger will go ahead. Someone who has a keen interest in this is TVNZ's main competitor Discovery who owns TV3.
