I recently went to the VA in London to see their exhibition about the fashion influences of Queen Marie Antoinette. And it got me thinking. What was it like for her to have put on all of those clothing? How long did it take? How difficult was it? I mean she did spend a lot of money on them. So what was it like to get into them? Today, we are getting these questions answered by the amazing and the fantastically talented Casta Hex. Historical drag queen, embroiderer, and textile artist. Casta creates all of their costumes using period accurate fabrics and techniques. I am absolutely fabulous. Genuinely thank you so much for having me. It's really weird as a fan of the show to be on the other side of the wizard's curtain and like seeing seeing how the sausage is made. It's really bizarre, but absolutely fascinating. Thank you so much.
For having me. Abs I mean, how could we not have had you for this episode on getting ready with Marie Antoinette? She's your girl,
right? She she is my home slice. Yeah. I d I just ever since I was a kid, I've just always had this weird connection to her, I suppose. I think I think
that is.
Probably being like a persecuted gay in a small coastal town. I think I always felt a little subject to like rumour and harassment that wasn't necessarily anything I'd done wrong. She wasn't a perfect person. None of us are. Do you know what I mean? She definitely had more conservative views. She was a staunch Catholic, etc. But I think she was a 14-year-old girl, expected to solve this complex geopolitical snafu between France and Austria, and was expected to solve it with a marriage that, you know, she wouldn't have been educated in the ways of men, certainly not educated in the ways of the complex French court etiquette system. So I just think she was up against a hard she was having a hard time from day one and also she was a Scorpio.
So like that Oh, what she That sets her up that sets her up for a fall immediately. And she was born on All Souls Day as well, which is like a Catholic day of mourning.
