Today's Case A 25-year-old male presents with diarrhea for the previous 6 weeks. He describes having non-bloody stools with significant mucous output approximately four times per day. Associated symptoms include left-sided, crampy abdominal pain with no radiation that is worse prior to bowel movements, urgency, and tenesmus. Also, he reports fatigue and unintentional weight loss of 5 lb. He denies rashes and joint pain. He has never been diagnosed with any medical conditions, has not traveled recently, and takes no medications. Today's Reader Jared Fehlman is an Internal Medicine Resident at Huntington Health Hospital in Pasadena, California.
