Even though y yesterday's game was odd and there was a lot of weird stuff happening. It just felt to me like they were gonna win. Ultimately they didn't. But um yeah, maybe I'm just am I guilty of of tr of being a little too optimistic here?
No, I don't think so. I I I sort of agree with you. I think they're a little bit more fun to watch. I I think it's the last couple of games it's felt like they they're they're not out of it when they fall behind. It seems like they, you know, I I don't want to say fight, that's the wrong word to use, but it just seems like they could string together a couple of quality at bats. Somebody, if they had to, could get a butt down. They didn't yesterday, but occasionally if they had to up until yesterday, I think they could do that. So it had that little bit of feel to it. I do think the rotation, you know, the Max Scherzers of the world, uh Shane Beaver looked a little bit better. Uh Soriano, I like that. He's gonna, he's gonna be got I think exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to PD and just everybody else getting their hands on him.
So, you know, Vladdy hit a homer, which was kind of nice. You know, Nathan Lucas had a tremendous three days. Andres Jimenez had six RBIs in those three games. Josh Smith had a big game. Bateman does not look
overwhelmed by the majors, does he?
He does not. You know, I I I said this on the morning show this morning that uh his swing looks the same all the time. You know, it's it no the d no matter what the speed is on the pitch. Now obviously, you know, this is the first couple of games and they're trying to see if he get a heater and you know, they're gonna force him to go the other way and then fastball counts are gonna start flipping it to him, but You know, he looks fast. He tagged up on a ball from short ride field and scoring on it pretty easy. Looked to me like he can run good routes. He's very comfortable in the outfield. So I mean, there was some things you could hang your hat on. The pin does look like it's been abused. You know, they're running through 'em.
You know, with Stradi yesterday I always say, Well, how come these guys aren't throwing three days in a row? That's why.
Well, here's the thing. Uh Jay's obviously you know by now played four extra inning games in five days. Bullpen. through combined to throw four hundred pitches in that time, twenty three appearances. I that is a lot of wear and tear on a bullpen that uh uh look, whatever we may think of Jeff Hoffman, Kenneth and I imagine there are folks in Minnesota who kind of think the same way of Jeff Hoffman right now, but whatever we may think of Jeff Hoffman І вас каблу. The question wasn't whether or not he'd take the ball, it was what the result would be and what inning was he used in and and you know, since the deadline the Jays are without are without that arm. So uh yeah, it's that my Biggest concern coming away from this weekend.
And look, we'll we'll take a look at the standings in a minute because standings are what they are. But my biggest concern coming away from this weekend, Kevin, is I'm I'm not worried about Louis Varland. But I'm a little Concerned.
I think the diet in it's different. You know, the routine, the expectations, the not blowing a save up until uh, you know, a little while ago.
