Chapter 1: What was the significance of the Blue Jays' 7-2 win over the Braves?
All right. Well, it's Friday. And it is Blair and Barker. And Barker's Blue Jays. I'll take them. Barker's Blue Jays with the biggest win of the year last night. You could argue. 7-2 win over Atlanta.
Chapter 2: How did Chris Sale perform against the Blue Jays?
All things considered, based on how they were playing, who they were facing, who the starting pitcher was. and just kind of the state of things in general. A 7-2 win. Chris Sale, they got 10 hits off Chris Sale. If you saw that coming, you're a liar. 16 hits against the Braves, three-run third, four-run fourth.
Chad Dallas did a really nice job coming in in a bulk roll, and his reward was being sent down to AAA today because the Jays have activated Simeon Woods-Richardson.
Chapter 3: What are the expectations for Trey Yesavage's upcoming game?
He'll be in the bullpen tonight. I mean, that's the life of a guy on the cusp, though, right? That's why the baseball gods invented options. I mean, I'm... Up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down.
Yeah, I never really went through that part of it. You know, I got called up maybe a couple of times in one year, but not like that roller coaster where you're – yeah, that stinks. And he was pretty good yesterday. Sweeper was good. Cutter was – elevated cutter was good.
Chapter 4: What strategies are being considered for the bullpen usage?
Got Olsen out twice.
That was – I was about to say the – made some – Made some really nice pitches when he needed to make them. And, you know, again, this only counts for so much. But he certainly didn't spend the entire game looking around going, oh, my God, I can't believe I've got three tiers. I'm playing in front of a three-tiered stadium here. He looked pretty comfortable.
Yeah, for the most part, I think those days are over. Probably. They're really prepared enough now when they get called up to spin it just like they were spinning it in the minor leagues.
Chapter 5: How is John Schneider planning to utilize Simeon Woods Richardson?
Yeah. He pitched the head good enough. That element of surprise, too. You can tell that lineup is a veteran lineup who kind of needs the information to know where it's going, how it spins. Element of surprise, that kind of thing. He threw it just enough, got it just enough off the barrel to give the lineup a chance. Deeper gotten into the game. Those 18 chances, runners to scoring position.
What were they? Seven for 18?
Chapter 6: What are the early impressions of Charles McAdoo in the majors?
Six for 12 after the second inning.
That's not too bad. They were one for six in the first two innings. And I was sitting there thinking, well, here we go again. And six for 12. And everybody contributed, man. Charles McAdoo, Heinemann, Straw, Nathan Lucas, who's Mr. Automatic on base right now. Vladdy had a good at bat, I thought.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was a much-needed win ahead of nine games, a tough nine-game homestand, one of the tougher homestands you're going to see
Chapter 7: What factors influence George Springer's playing time?
If you're the Blue Jays this year, you've got three against the Orioles. They've got a little something going on right now. They've got a little bit going on. Three against the Phillies and then the Yankees coming into town for three, although we may talk about this later with Dan Schulman. The Yankees will not have Aaron Judge for the next season.
at least four to six weeks because of a rib injury. And the Yankees aren't even really saying what it is right now because there's so much swelling around the area. They can't actually get a clear diagnosis, but it appears to be some sort of fracture or some sort of issue with the ribs. And due to so big and swing so hard, you know, you...
I mean, those are things you don't want to fool around with. So, anyhow. So, yeah, the Yankees will not have to face or the Jays will not have to face Aaron Judge.
Yeah, speaking of the Jays, the Jays all of a sudden might have a ninth inning guy, too, after last night. How about that?
Well, some of us... Well, let's get to the lineup.

Chapter 8: How does John Schneider view the effort of his players?
Yeah. All right, let's hear it. We'll get to tonight's lineup. As I mentioned... Oh, no, I didn't mention. Pardon me. Trey Savage is on the mound. Brandon Young for the Orioles. Springer, Lucas Guerrero, Varsho, Clement, Sanchez, Okamoto. Okamoto down in the what? That's the seventh spot. Jimenez, it's short. And Brandon Valenzuela behind the plate. Trey Savage on the mound.
The Orioles, as we mentioned, will be running out. Brandon Young, Kyle Braddish will pitch tomorrow. Shane Boz on Sunday against Kevin Gossman. Tomorrow for the Blue Jays is TBD, but we'll worry about that. we'll worry about that at some point down the road. Well, I mean, we'll be joined later on in the show by John Schneider, the manager of the Blue Jays.
Don't want to give a whole bunch away from our discussion with John, but if you watched the game last night or looked at the box score, I don't know, do people even look at box scores anymore? All the time. You probably saw that Louis Varlan pitched in the eighth inning and then finished out the game in the ninth inning. And one of the topics of conversation with John was,
Why didn't he start the inning?
Why didn't he start the inning? And have we gotten to the point now with Louie Varland that, and with the rest of the bullpen, because the two have to go hand in hand, that maybe we're getting to the point where Louie Varland is going to become the ninth inning guy and somebody else, you know, they may be using somebody else to bridge. Maybe it's preparation for when Jimmy Garcia gets back.
Maybe Jimmy Garcia, Braden Fisher... whichever side of the coin Jeff Hoffman lands on that particular day and Tyler Rogers, maybe that combination kind of you know, kind of builds the bridge. But, you know, I don't think, Kevin, I don't think we're there yet. I think it's still going to depend on, and John, I mean, look at it this way.
John did say that the way the Braves lineup was set up last night, it kind of played into his hands a little bit with Braden Fisher being used in the eighth inning for three batters before Louis Varlin came in. But, yeah, you know, for a lot of us, you look at the Braves lineup last night and you go, man, one, two, three. That's where the – like, no disrespect to Ozzie Albies.
We basically spent two hours talking about how good he was yesterday. Because he is good. But he is very good. But the top of that order is probably where somebody's going to do some damage. And I think that's why we may have thought Louie comes in, gets the eighth, and then somebody else gets the ninth. But anyhow, things are in flux.
Bottom line, Jays won a game, stopped a losing streak, and just – I mean, I went back to – they've obviously had other wins this year. They've had other games. I think they had 20 hits one game. They've had impressive wins. But there just – there seemed to be something about last night's win that – that to me just felt different, especially Chris Sale.
