Chapter 1: What are the initial thoughts on the Origin fallout?
Just a bloke in a bar.

They're going to be gone very soon. Also powered by NordVPN. Guys, go to nordvpn.com slash bloke.

And also, Ashley Mazda, Luke Camilleri, the best dealership in the land. If you need a car, message Lukey on Instagram, ldc underscore 01.
Any new or used purchased car, you go in the draw to be potentially gifted a day at the footy in a suite with me, Alex Glenn, and also Alex Glenn will take you into the sheds for the Broncos after the game. With that out of the way, Tommy Bomb, how you going, bro?
Better than last week, boys. I just want to apologize to anyone that watched it on YouTube. It looked like I've been snorkeling in public toilets again. I hate when you do that.
I hate when you fucking do that, mate.
What I do in my own time is my own business, but yeah, it was very red-eye. It's gone this week, and my jacket's been getting an absolute pounding this week.
Yeah, okay. Okay, especially by the fact that you guys won.
Yeah, absolutely. It was a brave win. I can't believe I'm in. I'm sure we've all spoken about it already, but I've never seen a referee overrule the bunker. Even as a New South Wales fan. I'd say it's quite ballsy.

Chapter 2: How did the Blues perform in the latest Origin match?
We don't win that game without it happening. I don't think so. However, when you talk about mitigating circumstances, now, it's obviously a... aggravating circumstance that his arms cocked the way it was. The fact that there was a bit of head clash, at least some people want to say it was a full head clash. It was at least half a head clash, half shoulder, you know, at least.
To me, the mitigating circumstance should outweigh the aggravating circumstance. When you're talking about losing a player, and that's where I reckon you could even explore the idea of like having something in the middle where it's like, let's say they send KP off for the game. You lose a player, you're down a player for 10, 15 minutes, then you can replace that player.
Something that's sort of in the middle of a sin bin and a send-off for a situation like that. Because I think we all watched it and thought, fuck, the Blues should win here, which is crazy. Because Queensland defended their dicks off. And it took a crazy play. I know Joey said in the comms live that... He kicked a 40-20 in eighth, which was a sick kick. Crazy. Big play.
But he sort of alluded to the idea that if there wasn't a send-off, the wing is there to cover it probably. You know what I mean? But the Teddy play sort of had nothing to do with having an extra man. That was just a crazy play from him. And if he doesn't do that, I think... I think he gets dropped.
I think he gets dropped, but also I think a lot of people sit there and go, fuck, Nathan couldn't beat 12 players, which I think is insane. You can't have it both ways to me.
It sort of changed the whole talking point of the series, but for me as well, I reckon 25 minutes in, I reckon there would have been a lot of people going, I wish I backed Queensland 3-0. And then for that to happen, KP's...
i i i can't believe the balls on ashley klein to do it to be fair because even if he's getting you know some first-class information from the bunker uh for him to go ahead and do it himself after someone probably gets a better view of it like personally i thought at the time i think he's done the right thing in terms of looking back on it now in retrospect i think it sort of aged fine for him but at the time getting that that information from the bunker and
The fact that there was any question whether there was contact with the head, whether it was just a head clash or not, I personally thought that, and I'm a New South Wales person, that if it was 10 in the bin, everyone would have went, fair enough. 100%. I think politically everyone would have gone, yeah, 10 in the bin. Send-off, questionable. And I think the send-off was probably...
probably just the second degree of getting everyone on side. I reckon to get everyone on side, the majority of the people, 10 of them probably would have been the go. But looking back on it now, I think he made the right decision. It's just now that it makes the series so interesting because Queensland looked like they were on a massive run for three games and now they're one behind.

Chapter 3: What are the implications of the refereeing decisions in the game?
That's like the hardest kick to do in rugby league. Like it's the worst position to kick from, let alone be on the back foot.
Yeah, mate. I was happy with Cleary's game. I thought it was great. Calm, collected, led him to a win.
I reckon that's when we got to a kick as well. We barely got to a kick at our own end.
50% completion rate for the first 20 minutes, literally. And Queensland were 100.
Yeah, Queensland were brilliant in the first 20. We were dropping a lot of ball. And even guys like Critter and Brian Toto, most of the time are guys where it's like, if you needed someone to hold the ball out of yardage, they're probably two of the first guys you picked.
I mean, Toto for sure. I've literally never seen him do that.
And he made multiple errors, which was just so out of character. And that's why with the Nath Cleary thing, you know, like real ballsy play to kick for Huddie Young when he did. We hadn't even been down that end yet.
I thought that was genius, bro. Like all the headlines had been as soon as the Blues get down, there's going to be a short line on Sam Walker's inside shoulder from Hudson Young. So what does Cleary do knowing everyone's going to jam up because they're trying to cut time down for Hudson Young and Cleary? He puts a little kick in behind. I thought it was brilliant.
Yeah, it was such a ballsy play. But just to add to that, Queensland had already scored two tries doing the same thing. So it's like they're hyper aware of the tactics. How powerful he is, yeah. And if he stuffs that kick up or if he goes dead, he's the dumbest guy. So you can't have it both ways.

Chapter 4: How do the players' performances impact their future selections?
Whereas Teddy at times, because he is so keen to do the right thing and be there, like how many grubbers does he save for his club? He actually sometimes gets ahead of that seven defender. And so when you watch video with Teddy, Billy Slater watches video, he says, oh, perfect. If I just get Harry Grant to dummy one way, Teddy's on his fucking bike, crazy. And so he did it twice.
The thing that impresses me the most about that tactic too, that it was just such a threat. And the fact that they got two tries from it in the first half is that when they got that back rower in at marker, then...
If you're a back rower and you know your fullback's not going to be there, not saying that they would have because Teddy was still on the line technically, but you're told to trap and scrap. Now, trapping and scrap means putting your leg out to try and get it out and make sure it doesn't get in the goal line just to stop it getting in there.
And then if they get a repeat set or whatever happens from it, it doesn't matter because we just don't want to let in a try because our fullback's not going to be there to cover it. The fact that they had a middle there at four in defender instead of the guy who's always there, which is the back rower...
it was such a brilliant tactic because the middles wouldn't have known to trap and scrap yeah yeah i mean it's not even like it's a natural it's supposed to be a natural reaction like if you play there long enough yeah you shouldn't like the game is so quick you're not thinking i've got a trap and scrap here it's more just like oh it's like it's a natural subconscious reaction because you've been taught it yeah and a front row wouldn't have that like you know isaiah was caught there a little bit but he's a 13 as well um so that was brilliant i also i'd love to get your thoughts like
watching that game, I actually think Kalen Ponga was running their attack because as soon as he went off, now maybe they were trying to defend their way to victory, maybe that's the case. But as soon as he went off, Queensland attack just completely disappeared. They had no shape wide. And I thought, again,
probably why Billy Slater, he's a genius, why he did pick Kalen Ponga, because he runs the attack definitely at the Knights. And so he, instead of, because usually what happens, usually what happens is your seven or your six is going to the fullback and saying, I'm getting to these positions, I need you over there.
I think what was happening on the other night was KP was saying to Sam Walker, get me there, I'm attacking here. And I just think that's brilliant from Billy Slater because like KP's, you don't, you want, if you're going to pick KP, as the main focal of your attack, give him the power to dictate that attack. I thought it was super, super smart.
And ironically, like, yes, Reece Walsh can run the attack at times. However, what's been the yarn around the Broncos for the last year or so that we haven't really, all of us haven't been able to solve is for some bizarre reason, when Adam Reynolds is the seven, It doesn't really click. Probably because Reece Walsh isn't confident enough to say, Reno, get me fucking here.

Chapter 5: What strategies did Queensland employ during the match?
I reckon they could use a bit of Fosball through the middle third.
Okay, Lozball.
Do we bring Jake Travojevic back for the first 20 minutes again?
I think he'd be too slow in today's game. I think he'd be too... And I say that respectfully. I just reckon it might be a little bit too much of an ask. He's been good at Manly. But I just think when you've got guys like Payne Haas and you see how well Radley played, I think that's what's locked up.
I'm hearing the headgear sponsor might come in blue.
oh okay okay it's all about the cash okay i like i like the sound of that okay as a as a are you getting a bit of that cash eddie i'd love i'd love it okay that head you don't even start on that head yeah man my goodness i i think yo can sort of do a similar role there though if they move him in the front row mate yo's a great front rower in origin he's perfect for it because he's so deceptive and he still can ball play if you need it it does scare the out of me that pain ass is coming back could you imagine a pain hash when you guys got a bit of a roll on the other night oh my god
I also thought the Braley, like the use of Braley, I wasn't sure if he was just coverage.
I thought that was another thing that they nailed and having Syfidi there and it was interesting seeing all the defense of the, and I said this to Jack last week, but like the defense of his selection from Newcastle fans when people questioned it, like in any sort of media where they were like, you obviously don't watch Knights games, like he's been so big for us.
And if you watch the nice games, you can tell that. Sorry, did I say Daniel? Jacob. Yeah, it is Jacob. But I thought the fact that he, under pressure, backed himself in, he had him there on the bench, didn't use him.
