Chapter 1: What recent developments occurred in U.S.-Iran relations?
Hello, I'm Stephen Carroll. I'm in Brussels, where many of Europe's biggest decisions get made.
And I'm Caroline Hepke in London. We're the hosts of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast.
We're up early every weekday, keeping an eye on what's happening across Europe and around the world.
We do it early so the news is fresh, not recycled, and so you know what actually matters as the day gets going.
From Brussels, I'm following the politics, policy and the people shaping the European Union right now.
And from London, I'm looking at what all that means for markets, money and the wider economy.
We've got reporters across Europe and around the globe feeding in as stories break.
So whether it's geopolitics, energy, tech or markets, you're hearing it while it happens.
It's smart, calm and to the point.

Chapter 2: How did President Trump address the situation in Iran?
That is Bloomberg's Mike McGlone. Meantime, the UAE has closed financial markets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There will be no trading Monday and Tuesday. The UAE also closed its embassy in Tehran and withdrew its ambassador and all members of its diplomatic mission after attacks by Iranian missiles. The unrest in the Middle East has boosted security at some key locations.
More from Bloomberg's Monica Ricks.
The Secret Service heightened security around the White House, the homes of former presidents and other protected locations this weekend as the agency watched the situation unfold in Iran. FBI Director Kash Patel also put his counterterrorism and counterintelligence teams on high alert.
And in New York, the FBI and NYPD's Joint Terrorism Task Force are now keeping a close eye on pro-Iran groups on social media that are praising Iran's response and urging supporters to mobilize. Its rhetoric officials describe as hostile but not yet operational. So far, no specific threats against the U.S. have been identified. Monica Ricks, Bloomberg Radio.
February was a losing month for the U.S. equity market, and now Wall Street will focus on jobs data and earnings in the week ahead. We have a preview from Bloomberg's Charlie Pellett. We'll be hearing from Target, Gap, and Best Buy, and all three are expected to reveal slowing profit growth and tighter margins. Maura Mahajan is head of investment strategy at Edward Jones.
Perhaps the silver lining here is as we look underneath the surface at the fundamentals, the U.S. economy is still growing at over 2%, we think, in 2025. And by the way, we do think earnings growth, S&P broadly, corporate earnings are up about 14% potentially in 2026 as well.
Other retailers reporting this week include Ross Stores and BJ's Wholesale Club in New York. Charlie Pellett, Bloomberg Radio. And that is news when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Doug Krisner and this is Bloomberg.
