News when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Doug Krisner. U.S. military forces launched strikes against Iran for a fifth straight day. CENTCOM said the aim was to further degrade Iranian military capabilities. Here is White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
Iran very much continues to talk to the United States of America and express that they want to make a deal with us. The reason for the recent strikes over the course of the last several days is because Iran violated the memorandum of understanding that we struck with them. Specifically, in the memorandum of understanding that they signed, they were not to fire on commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz. And unfortunately, they have made the tragic decision for them to do that.
Now, Iran responded to prior U.S. strikes by firing at American military bases in Kuwait and Jordan in the early hours of Thursday. Now, President Trump has said the strikes will escalate, and he threatened to attack Iranian power plants and bridges if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz. After the bell, Netflix forecast a second consecutive quarter of slowing sales growth. Now the guidance is feeding anxiety about the future of the streaming giant. Netflix is projecting revenue of $12.9 billion in the current quarter and earnings of 82 cents a share, both a little shy of analyst expectations. We got reaction from Bloomberg analyst Geeta Raghunathan.
We were kind of looking for some kind of, you know, guidance raise, either the revenue numbers or the operating margin. They really didn't do either of that. And then, of course, the all important number was the third quarter guidance, which, as you pointed out, came in way below consensus. So 11.7 percent is what they're guiding to. Consensus was expecting just a touch above 13 percent. So, again, not a lot to get excited about and really kind of feeds into that whole bearish argument about All of the things that you highlighted, you know, especially plateauing engagement.
Now, Netflix also said it's considering a free tier with ads, but it does not have immediate plans to do so. Here is Bloomberg tech host Ed Ludlow.

We are told the FDA will immediately issue a public statement recommending consumers avoid shredded lettuce at Taco Bell locations in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.
On Capitol Hill, it was the second day of confirmation hearings for Attorney General nominee Todd Blanch. The Senate Judiciary Committee heard witness testimony from Danny Bensky, an Epstein survivor and sexual assault advocate.
