Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Anyhow, we got a great show for you today. I was flipping a coin in the studio. Do I want to start off with the embarrassing moment that happened for you New York Giants fans about an hour or so ago? Or do I want to start off with the reality that the New York Knicks are one step closer to getting Giannis? So let's start with the football. All right, here we go. Okay.
How do you process, as a New York Giant fan who told me that Moses himself was now in charge of all things Giants football, the great John Harbaugh, who everybody wants to coach with and everybody wants to play with, who's going to get the New York Giants out of the abyss that they've been in, I'm asking an obvious and I think a fair and honest question.
The New York Giants thought they had an offensive coordinator. They had already negotiated the deal with Todd Munkin to come here with John Arbaugh from Baltimore. We was there for the last couple years after leaving Georgia to come to the NFL. Now, to be fair, he was in the NFL years ago, actually with the Cleveland Browns.
Kitchens was the real head honcho there, so while he had the title for one year of OC, he didn't call any plays, so we kind of scrubbed it off his resume, right?
but how do you as a giant fan reconcile that jesus himself has lost todd munkin not just to any team but the worst team in the nfl and uh how upset are you about that i'm not upset at all i'm sorry i'm not upset at all you lost your offensive coordinator to the cleveland browns not the giant so offense coordinator he seemed to be the first choice there's no doubt about that he He was. Yeah.
And then in losing to the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator position, he took a head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns. There's 32 of them, Craig.
Yes. That's it. There's only 32 OC jobs.
He might not get another chance. I think he probably would if he came here and was successful with Harbaugh. So you're okay with it? I'm okay with it. I don't see how you cannot be. You're really that disappointed. No, I'm not. I just thought everybody wanted to coach with him. That's what I thought. I was wrong. He took a head coaching job. I apologize. I clearly was wrong.
Here, I thought John Harbaugh comes to New York and kind of like the Pied Piper, everybody's going to come with him. and the first major guy he wants, Todd Monkett, to run the offense with your rock star quarterback, said, all right, I've got a choice.

Chapter 2: Why did the Giants lose Todd Munkin to the Browns?
Look, is there some disappointment that their number one choice, the guy he wanted to come in here? I mean, I suppose. I bet there is. I think Munkin. Here's what I know. And you tried to kind of make this point last week or earlier in this week about Harbaugh and how many, the coaching tree. Yeah.
What I do know is that over the 19 years in Baltimore, he had a competent and successful coaching staff with him damn near every year. Okay. And I am not worried about John Harbaugh picking the right offensive coordinator. That's the whole point of bringing John Harbaugh here. It's not necessary that everybody will come running out of the woodwork.
Anybody, you know, who hasn't coached in 20 years and works for Barstool suddenly wants to come out and be the coach for this franchise, whoever he picks is going to be a good choice. That's what it's about. Him recognizing, being able to decide on who his good coach is. He's got a defensive coordinator coaching in the Super Bowl right now. It's not necessarily what they became after.
It's what they are when they're with him. And that has been successful. So I have confidence. If this were another lesser coach, I'd be more concerned about choice two. But I am confident that John Harbaugh knows how to decipher talent and can figure out how to be good head coach.
Plus, I also told you about the idea if Munkin takes the head coaching job now, if he comes in this year, he's successful with Dart. He's everything we hoped he would be. Dart becomes a star. Giants are who I think they are. 10-win team or whatever. Now he's clearly on the calendar. You lose him. You lose him next year. And I hate that.
I don't want to have Jackson Dart three coaches in three years. I don't want that for him. Yeah, I love your positivity. Yes. I love the fact that you've turned an embarrassing negative into a positive story, and I appreciate that. But don't act like the Giants weren't shocked by this, because they were. They had already made the offer. They negotiated the contract.
They thought Todd Munkin was coming with. And it is interesting that Todd Munkin chose a franchise without a quarterback over a franchise with a guy that looks like he's on a rocket ship to start him in year number two. No matter how you cut it, that's embarrassing. I don't think it's embarrassing. Maybe he pivots and goes back to Greg Roman. I don't know.
Maybe he pivots and the guy he does get that's willing to come here is a rock star and it all works out great. And you have a nice three, four, five year run. And then that guy maybe gets a head coaching job elsewhere. If it happens that way, that'd be great. But let's not act like today you didn't take a hit. You took a hit today.
Now, it may not be a major hit, but the New York Giants franchise, and I don't hate the Giants. I don't. I respect the Giants. I think the Giants got the right guy as head coach. But, you know, someone's got to be the voice of reason around here. And it's a little embarrassing when the Cleveland Browns steal the guy that you wanted. That's embarrassing.

Chapter 3: How does John Harbaugh's coaching influence the Giants' future?
To step into that role and be the underling to Sean Payton, who's going to call plays, is going to be thought of as the offense.
Kind of a BSOC job.
Yeah, it's kind of not a great job to make that next leap into coaching. So we'll see. I think he's interviewing in multiple places for coordinators. That one jumps off the list to me. I know there's been some connection. I saw Art Stapleton. I mentioned it yesterday on the show.
Art Stapleton put out there that Charlie Weiss Jr., who was obviously with Jackson Darts at Ole Miss, and now he's going to LSU. That could be a comfortable fit for the quarterback. Is he the guy, is he the writer that was dropping F-bombs online today? No, that was Joel Sherman. Joel Sherman's cursing now? Yes. Desperate.
I'm sorry. Don't knock my guy Joel. He's joining the dark side with me.
I love it. I love when writers... You'll make fun of radio guys for being shock jocks and make fun of people for, you know, click bait and all that stuff. And they recognize that their medium is dead. So they go on, they start doing podcasts and videos and no one pays attention to them. So they start cursing for attention. Joe Sherman cursed out Yankee fans, dropped two F-bombs in 10 seconds.
And I'm like, I kind of want to like it, but that guy's hated this medium for so long and been against people like me for so long. And now he's apparently so desperate for clicks and attention that he's dropping F-bombs at Yankee fans. Go do another Marshen podcast and get back to me. What else do you have? I'm sorry.
We might have to get into that later because I feel likeā You can bring Joel on the show. Call him. I don't care. I love it. The heel turn, too, because he had it back. If you remember, a couple years ago, he had a back-and-forth with Brian Cashman. I was unaware of that. That got heated.
After the Yankees didn't make the playoffs in 23, that offseason, he had a heated exchange about Anthony Volpe with Brian Cashman and went at him.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of hiring a new offensive coordinator?
So I'm looking forward to that. But separate from that, Shams reported that Giannis has finally gone to Milwaukee and said, all right, It's time. The trade deadline is next week. It's coming up. It's February 5th. The trade deadline is now one week away. And Giannis has said, trade me. The Knicks are an obvious destination. I've got three other franchises you have to worry about.
And we have been told that at least two franchises have already made initial offers to Milwaukee for the rights to Giannis. So what are the Knicks going to do? The owner said on this show exclusively three weeks ago, I would not expect a major deal like that. He obviously can't specifically say Giannis because it's tampering. Now all of a sudden, Giannis is in play and he's going to be traded.
We'll get into that coming up in just a second.
Ian Begley, for what it's worth, has reported that he believes that they will be one of the teams interested in making the move.
Well, look, we've been told that when they first talked about him during the offseason, it was Deuce McBride, McHale Bridges, and Catt. And there may be a pick or two involved with that as well. And if that's the deal, you do it.
You do it.
You do it today. You do it. Yep. And we all get real excited about it. 100%. Let's go. Then you hope the calf is okay. I'm assuming it is. That is scary. And we can win a championship. I mean, it's almost. One after the other. Yeah, we got lots cooking today. We got the Giants on the clock for a new OC. We got the Jets trying to make moves.
And we got the Knicks trying to get Giannis, who would become the best player for this organization, maybe since we acquired Earl the Pearl.
Rick in New Jersey. What's going on, Rick? How you doing, guys? It's been a long time.

Chapter 5: What insights are shared about Jackson Dart's potential as a quarterback?
You know, I just got here. And I think that I got to see how I have to share time with my teammates and, you know, think about different ideas, you know, later about everybody, coaches, the organization in general, and then we can see.
No. No shot. Yes. You can always tell from the first words people say. Who was it we were talking about yesterday where the first thing he said was Mendoza? Mendy. We were asking if there was a locker room issue. And the first word out of his mouth was, yeah. So he's answering it, right? The first word Freddie Baratta said was, well, I'm just getting here. It means no.
And then he just talks about, I got to look at different options and I want to set myself up. He's not open for an extension right now. No, I don't even know if the Mets are. I mean, that's the other thing. Like, you need two to tango, and David Stearns was effusive in his answer as well.
So for anyone hoping for the Freddy Peralta extension, because there was some excitement a few days ago when Pat Ragazzo of SI wrote, hey, Freddy's camp is open to it, that, hey, maybe this could happen. I agree with you. I think based on that answer, it is not going to happen.
I also, before we break at any point, I want to give more credit to Al Dukes, who called in to tell me where the John Heyman clip was and informed me that all Tommy did was steal it from Eddie, who had it saved in a separate folder. Oh, wow. So you had to go to Eddie's folder. So basically, I've just learned anything I'm looking for that I thought Tommy had, Tommy was just taking from Eddie.
Well, no, there's also a lot of stuff I sent him. But now you've got to keep Eddie's open, too. It's all things of mess, let's be honest. Well, can't you just... It's digital information. You can just copy and paste.

Chapter 6: How does the discussion compare the Giants and Jets' coaching situations?
I do have to defend Tommy on this. I've got the Dewey Decimal System here. I don't know what's going on. You got it from Eddie, and it's much appreciated. Thank you all for calling in. The one thing I will say is when Heyman had that exchange, I immediately, like we all did, I was not original to this, I cut a clip and did send it to Tommy. So we probably have the same clip, but it was put in.
Now, it's possible Loogie got lazy and said, I'm not putting in Evan's clip. I'll just wait for Scissori, who's going to have it. On the table. That is absolutely on the table. But I do remember that night cutting it and being like, here you go, Tommy. Yeah. I got another one that I can't wait to play tomorrow once I get some... Actually, you know what? I'll play it for you now. It's in my phone.
It's from Walt Clyde Frazier. You guys like Clyde? We're big fans of Clyde? Correct. It's a drop I will soon play of Walt Clyde Frazier. Are you ready for this one? Yes. This is my favorite. And who is this pertaining to? You'll hear. He'll say the name. Here we go. You know, Brunson flops a lot. Hear what he said?
Chapter 7: What factors contribute to the Jets' current challenges?
Brunson flops a lot. What? You know, Brunson flops a lot. What, Walt? You know, Brunson flops a lot. What about Jalen? You know, Brunson flops a lot. Yeah, so that'll be a fun drop. Bronson Flopson. Wow. I didn't say it. I mean, he does. He does. He tries to get the foul every time. When Clyde said that last night. Sometimes it works. He's got the respect now.
A brand new list, the tiki top five, if you will. It's not a Cinco, it's not officially a Cinco, but your list of preferred OCs, now that Todd Munkin is not going to be the guy. This is in no particular order, but there is a connection, obviously, with Matt Nagy. Not directly, but because he was on Andy Reid's staff, they moved on from him, I guess.
I don't really know the circumstances of that, but Eric Biennemi is now back as the offensive coordinator in Kansas City, so Matt Nagy. Matt Nagy wanted to be a play caller, he told Andy Reid, and that's why he left. And so there's your answer.
And so I think there's an opportunity because, as I mentioned this before, when we were talking about head coaches for the Giants before John Harbaugh was available, why has Matt Nagy been in purgatory for so long? He had some pretty good seasons with Mitch Trubisky as a quarterback. He deserves a second shot.
And got fired because they drafted Justin Fields and they won seven games or whatever it was, which is a miracle given what Justin Fields has kind of become. He had a levelā Of success that other first-timers who ultimately failed had.

Chapter 8: How do the hosts view the future of both teams?
Yes. Where they deserve a second shot. It's just a matter of where. Matt Nagy had more success than Robert Sala. Yeah. And Robert Sala, here he is. Right. Cliff Kingsbury. He is out there only because of his work with quarterbacks. And I just worry that he might put Jackson Dart in harm's way. A la... Jayden Daniels. Jayden Daniels down in Washington. Dave Ragone.
He was previously an offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. He has been the Rams quarterback coach over the last couple of seasons, and simply because of being in the McVay orbit, but also working with Matt Stafford is interesting.
Davis Webb, who we mentioned before, who has been out in Denver, obviously has a little bit of a giant tie, but he was working under Sean Payton, not calling plays. He was not calling plays. Sean Payton calls plays, though, right? Yes, he does. And they just fired their offensive coordinator? Yes. Which leads me to wonder, is Davis Webb a candidate to just simply be promoted?
That feels like it's what's going to happen. Because he's been the past game coordinator out there. But he may prefer the Giants job just to cut you off because he would get to call plays. Which he's not going to do in Denver because I assume, again, Sean Payton is going to continue doing it. And then a young name that I just happened upon, Declan Doyle, who is in Chicago. Same situation.
Offensive coordinator by title does not call plays. Gotcha. Ben Johnson does. So that's a short list. Now, I think John Harbaugh's list is probably significantly longer with guys who he has ties to and he would prefer. T. Martin. Like T. Martin, who was his quarterback coach for the last three seasons. Yeah, before that, a wide receivers coach under him.
Lamar Jackson is not that dissimilar, but their games are very different. He has never called plays in the NFL, though. I'll offer you a prediction. This is Sean Morash and Chris McMonagle, two great Giant fans. And Tommy Lugauer threw him in there. I forgot about him, but he still exists. Here are their opinions on the next Giants offensive coordinator.
And it doesn't matter if it's Tanner Engstrom. I trust John Harbaugh. Absolutely. There you go. I'm not mocking you. I'm just confirming that. And I would do the same thing. That's why I'm not mocking you. But they could hire anybody right now. And I think the opinions of the diehard Giant fan will simply be, I trust John Harbaugh. Trust him.
But this is a minor hiccup, because it did feel like this was coming. It's minor, but I think there are options out there. Sure. Again, I'll go back to Matt Nagy, because he's my preferred right now, only because there's an Andy Reid tie. But if he wants to call plays, he's going to come and run this offense. Right. John Harbaugh's not...
you know, reaching in and saying, we're going to do this instead. Now, he may advise, but this will be Matt Nagy's offense. This is where the Giant job is very appealing to a Matt Nagy who needs a job. So it's a little bit different. But even a Davis Webb, who we were assuming is going to be up for the Broncos OC job, just based on the fact that they're moving on from their OC. Yes.
