Katie Neal, who used to work here, who is now still part of Odyssey down in Nashville, it's like our country music place. uh guru down there she was posted on social media all the trees were cracking and popping and falling in her backyard down there in nashville scary stuff man scary stuff is right you know what i mean uh all right so the jets have decided that nothing was good enough last year and i can understand why and aaron glenn is trying to improve this coaching staff he had already fired Steve Wilks during the season, and Wink Martindale and the Jets have been talking.
Wink now with his second interview. It's not the only person they're talking to, but they really do apparently want Wink to come in here. Tanner Ingstrom was the offensive coordinator last year. Didn't have a ton to work with. They gave him Brady Cook at the end of the year, I think for reasons we understand, that they were okay with losing some games towards the end, at least organizationally, maybe. But Aaron Glenn is now saying, we're going to reassign Tanner Engstrom somewhere else in the organization and bring in somebody who is going to be the head man on offense. So, turns out that on X over the weekend, the name that kept popping up all over the place is your buddy, your friend, your college roommate, your former teammate, Frank Reich.
So, if there's anybody other than Frank and the New York Jets that may know what's going on between Frank and the New York Jets, it might be you. So, what do you know about the Jets talking to Frank Reich? Yeah, I saw Connor Hughes' report, and all I can say is that Connor Hughes knows what he's doing. Okay. He's very much on top of it. I am not a leaking source. He's talking to somebody, whether it be agents or people within that building over there, that are giving him good information, solid information, and accurate information. Okay? That's what I can say, and I can say that... Of course, I've had a couple conversations with Frank about potentially doing this. But remember, if the Jets are thinking about doing this with a coordinator, they still have to meet the Rooney rule.
They still have to interview minority coaches in order for them to finally make a decision either on Wink or on Frank. You know what I'm saying? So there's still a lot of things that have to go on here. I think Frank has been contacted by a number of teams, both in college and in the pros. He's highly sought after. He has another year left on his contract from the Carolina Panthers. He's highly respected. You know, I told him, I said, if it ends up happening that you end up coming here, I'm going to quit WFAN. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. So we don't want that. It cannot happen. I can't. It would be miserable. It would be even worse than him being the head coach, I think, because the offensive coordinator is the one who gets more crap than anybody.
All right. Yes. I mean, like, so, yeah, I mean, you know, I'm – I know all this stuff is going on. I mean, I'm just a sounding board. I'm just a listening person. I've been here for, obviously, 19 years on this radio station, trying to give them the flavor of what the Jet fan is all about, what the situation is with the team from where I sit, what I see, what I hear.
