Chapter 1: Should you tip plumbers and electricians?
It's the Boomer in Geo podcast from WFAN.
All right, 905, great to have you with us. It is all good because it's Friday, Friday, Friday. We're close to March. Matter of fact, I'll go back to the calls in a second. Built for Tough Studio, Rutgers, Maryland Sunday. If you want to go, let me know. No, thank you. No game on Sunday, but that is March 1st. That is March 1st. So we are getting closer and closer to spring.
Watch out for the Ides of March, though. The Ides of March. And by the way, I think next Saturday, maybe 67, 70 degrees. So, yeah, CeeLo said it's down to 55. Oh, it is? But it's still pretty good. But we're looking at possible snow Monday and Tuesday. Yeah, I did see that. Yeah. Like a lot. GFX model. Uh-huh. Not good. Yeah. Just to wrap this up with a couple more, Joe in Jersey City.
What's up, Joe?
How you doing? I started a small business about two years ago driving people to the airport. Okay. The guy that sits on the water with three Mercedes in it, he don't tip you. Then I had a woman... With two little kids, I carry them to sleep and it's an early ride. I bring them in. She gives you a wonderful tip and you don't want to take it.
And, you know, it's a crumbled up five and a crumbled up ten. And they're the ones that tip.
Well, you know what, Joe? My guess would be because they really appreciate it more and maybe the other person kind of expects it. I don't know. Those also could be trust fund babies that you're taking to the airport.
Very possible.
Who don't understand what tipping is. Right. You never know. And like I said, expect it and expect you to serve them. I'm loaded, okay? Yeah, just calm down. I heard he tips well, by the way. Yes, I've seen that.

Chapter 2: What are the latest updates on the Knicks and St. John's games?
I appreciate it. Yes. Now, when you beat us, you want your money, which is fair.
I mean, that's fine.
That's competition. That's all good. But the other things you don't allow, which is very nice. Johnny in North Caldwell. What's up, Johnny?
Jerry and Boomer. Oh, yeah. Johnny, what do you got, brother?
So I'm a plumber in North Jersey, and I get tipped pretty frequently on my service calls. Now, sometimes I'm doing sewers, sometimes I'm doing faucets, but depending, you know, if they see I'm working hard, they usually throw me a little, you know, a bone here and there, $10, $20. Okay. Depending on the people.
So, Johnny, what happens here now with this cold weather and everything, there's busted pipes all over the place. I'm sure you've probably went to a couple of those homes as well.
Oh, yeah, absolutely. So many busted pipes over the last month or so because of the cold weather. Right.
And so you're coming out on Saturdays and Sundays. Yeah, so you're getting tipped on those days, I would imagine, right? Oh, yeah, 100%. More than the regular days, right, than the regular service calls?
100%, definitely, because this is an emergency call, and they're thankful that we're coming out either late at night or super early in the morning.

Chapter 3: How did the Rangers and Devils perform in their recent games?
Good. Hey, I'd love to talk about the trades. I think we need to support the trades and get more guys into the trades. But just wanted to give a shout out. I'm just driving up the West Side Highway. Saw a police car with a flat tire on the side of the road. Two construction workers were out there changing the tire for him. Nice. Thought it was awesome. Working together here in Manhattan.
Which is good. And you know what, Alex?
I would do the same thing. It's a collective warmth, Alex. Remember that. That's right. Yeah, there you go. By the way, I know you want to talk about the Knicks, but look what I got. What's that? Is it the whiteout game this weekend? It's Rick Pitino bobblehead. Yeah, but I do think he's wearing it this weekend, as a matter of fact. I love it. Look at that. He looks sharp in that.
He does look sharp. Is that the game against Villanova? I believe so, yes. And by the way, remember we were talking about the cards they were giving away at these games? Yeah, I dealt with Rutgers for three games. Right, so the St. John's-Villanova game was supposed to be one of those games. They canceled that giveaway. Why? I think because of the problems. Because of the craziness of it? Yeah.
I will tell you, because they're at the Garden... The one game I was there for was the St. John's-Yukon game where they were giving these cards away. Yes. And the way they did it, I thought, was done and handled really well. It was after the game and on your way out. But now it's out there. We amplified it. What happens when you amplify things?
I will tell you, at Rutgers, though, Boomer, they gave them away pregame like I think a lot of the places do. And the line, people were lined up literally three hours before the game. But I think the demand for these cards is going to create or may be creating problems now. Yeah, I guess. I really thought that it kind of was minimized a little bit. I don't know.
I really don't know because I was told that there were people walking around at Rutgers, and the security did a great job of stopping this the second and third time. The first time, there were people walking around with wads of cash offering people money for these cards, and the cards were showing up on eBay like an hour after the game for crazy amounts of money.
And each one that went on, the amounts came down and down and down because they were handing more out. Yeah. So that's surprising. So maybe they're handing out bobbleheads or something. But I will say this. I understand why Coach Patino would go for this.

Chapter 4: What are Connor McDavid's thoughts on championship pressures?
The look? Yeah, because he looks a lot younger than he is. Well, first of all... I mean, he's a very good-looking bobblehead. He absolutely looks a lot younger than he is. No, that bobblehead looks even younger than what he looks. The white suit is... Badass. It looks better there than it does actually on him. I think it's great. I love the fact that he buys into the whole thing.
I didn't say he shouldn't buy into it. I'm just saying that it's an interesting look. Yeah, but look at that. Let's just put it that way. Look at that. Their game against Villanova is actually tomorrow night, not tomorrow afternoon at the Garden. Yeah, and you've also got tomorrow UConn playing Seton Hall. So that's another big one. So you've got the top teams in the conference in St.
John's and UConn with pretty big home games tomorrow. And I do think tomorrow night is the whiteout game for St. John's. Rick, I wanted to ask you this because we were talking about the Knicks and Giannis and all that. Yes. The Knicks start this stretch. Not that Milwaukee is a great team. They're not by any stretch. But the games coming up after that are... But it is still a road game tonight.
The idea of... Getting out to a good start from the standpoint of all the noise that has really started to surface the last couple of weeks. Really, the last week or so, I feel like it's gotten elevated. Clearly, the guys know what's going on. Oh, 100%.
100%, they do know what's going on, and they're all on their phones, they're all on social media, they all hear us here at the station, you know, basically lambasting this guy, that person, this coach, the decision-making, you know, why did you fire the coach, how come you fired the coach, and this is the eighth coach that you had in line to, you know, replace him.
All of that crap has been amplified now to a point where, I mean, this – This is whether or not Cat wants to be here long term, whether or not Mike Brown's going to be here long term, and what's going to happen this offseason.
Because if they falter and it looks like this, there's no way that I believe that Jim Dolan, who went in to see Craig and C-Mac and basically said, I expect to hoist a championship flag, whether it be this year or next year. I guess could be interpreted any way you want to, but the fact of the matter is there is pressure. Mike Brown takes his job.
He has to know that he's got to get him to the next step. At least the next step. This is win or go away, probably. And again, whether it be Mikael Bridges or OG Ananobi or Jalen Brunson to his dad, Rick Brunson, who seems to be having a lot of influence over there. I just... You just wonder where the sharks are in the water.
I don't know, because we have them, which is why they made the change last year. And when I say win or go away from Mike Brown, I don't mean win the entire thing. They've got to show progress, though, in the postseason. They've got to be really good, because if they're not and they just go through... You can even make the case now. They're 37-22, I believe.

Chapter 5: What surprising news did Gerrit Cole share about his fastball?
Now, that would be a really middling average team the rest of the way, but it would be really disappointing from where we thought they'd be. Yeah, their best win over the last, what, four or five games is probably the Houston game. Which they were down 15 or 16 in the fourth quarter and came back. Again, and that was home. Yes, and looked terrible for three quarters.
Exactly, but they won the game.
They did.
That's all their manners. And then they went out and won in Chicago in a very blah game, but they won on the road. You don't dismiss it. I just have to say it's an experience-laden playoff. That is, should be tough. And if healthy, totally should be able to, to get to the Eastern conference final.
And if anything short of that, I think is a huge disappointment if they, if there are healthy for sure. Sure, and that's where, if you're not the two-seed, you could end up seeing Detroit sooner than the conference finals. Boston, if Tatum comes back, is going to be a little bit different than they've been, even though they've played great with Jalen Brown.
Cleveland, we can laugh all we want, but Cleveland with James Harden, it's a different look. They're 6-1 since he joined them. So, very interesting. Real quick. I personally still think Giannis is coming here next year and is going to be a new coach. That's possible.
And I want to wait until we get to the playoffs, and that's kind of like a soft prediction, meaning that I don't see the fire and I don't see the connection with the players. Understood. And with the way they've played, I wouldn't argue that point. So tonight, if you want to go in Milwaukee to see the Nixon Bucks, the get-in-the-door price is $27. Yeah. $27.
The next game for the Knicks is Sunday at 1, Madison Square Garden against the Spurs. What do you think the get-in-the-door price is? $4.50. $3.92.
Okay.

Chapter 6: What sparked the debate over the AI video from the White House?
Al, if I told you, so this, I'm not going to mention it, but this ticket resale, because obviously the tickets are sold out, so you can only get them on the resale market. They rate the ticket value 1 to 10, 1 being just terrible, 10 being this is a great value. So the cheapest seats are behind the basket. Way up. $390 to a piece.
So for a family of four, it's $1,600 to sit in the upper deck behind the basket. On a scale of 1 to 10, what do you think they rate the value of that ticket? They're going to give that a 5. What do you think, Eddie? I'll go 7. 9.7. God. To sit behind the basket for $1,600. Way up. Crazy. But that is where we're at. It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. All right, 926.
What is up, Friday morning? Soon to be a Friday afternoon. Soon to be a Saturday. Built for a tough studio. There's a Boomer and Geo program. I don't know where Geo is, but my guess is it's somewhere warm and not here. Hopefully he's having a good time. He'll be back on Tuesday. And you mentioned snow, possibly Monday or Tuesday. Yes. I hope he can get back.
Because Tommy, did you hear Lugauer's story? I did hear it. Holy cow. I mean, he had his flight bumped for hours. Yeah, so he's one of millions of people that had to deal with the weather. I didn't say he didn't have to deal with it. I didn't say we got to feel bad for him.
I was relating it to Gio. Tough getting stuck in Beverly Hills.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I couldn't even get to work that day.
Right. Once again, I wasn't feeling bad for him. I just, in relation to Gio, it's out there, and I hope he has no problem traveling back. That's all.
Yeah.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of Giancarlo Stanton's elbow injury?
I don't know.
That's what I gave him. You gave him Tommy Two Shoes?
Yeah. Just now? Yeah, just now.
Oh, okay.
generational talent yes it's it's you know and by the way i did see him you know going off yesterday about how the knicks are the standard music conference you know somebody needs to hit him over the head with a bat well i mean you tried to do that to al earlier this week or jerry one of the two by the way can you tell it's 9 30 on friday yes positive and everything else like that but he's had enough enough of me let's just get to the weekend
Two days on, two days off. Perfect. But they're only saying it's going to be not much, right? It changes every second. It changes rapidly. But my wife showed me, I don't know what model, but she showed me last night that said where we are. Maybe not you, but down the shore, 8 to 12 inches on Sunday night. Down the shore.
Okay. No joke. Yesterday we talked about how the extended forecast next weekend, not this weekend, next weekend. It's going to be 70. Right. So this morning I came in, it was down to 56. Right. And now just in the three and a half hours, now it's back up to 64. Okay, good. So it changes like every couple of minutes. Very good. It's bulls**t. It is.
No, no, no, no. It's not bulls**t because the last two storms, they got right. They did get right, and I'm hoping this one, there is no storm because the snow is already way down.
Yeah, because the temperatures have finally gone up a little bit.

Chapter 8: Who is Sonny Styles and why is he being discussed for the Jets?
He just has a sense. You're born with it. That's why I use the word prodigy. It's just... It's ridiculous just watching an 18-year-old kid who would have just graduated from high school doing this.
Yeah, that is wild when you think of it that way. We go back to Flyers Radio again. Our new play-by-play pal we met earlier in the show. A little caught off guard as the Flyers finish killing off a penalty in overtime.
Here comes Mika or Matvei Mishkov. Mishkov took a shot. He scores in overtime. Matvei Mishkov steps out of the penalty box, goes in alone on Shusterkin, and beats him for his second goal of the game.
Would have been nice if it was Mika, but it wasn't. It was Matvei Mishkov, his second of the game. As he said, the game winner, 3-2 in OT as the Blue Shirts blow a 2-0 lead. The return of Igor Shusterkin and Adam Fox, no change. The Rangers are 2-11-2 since the Winter Classic.
victory so what do you think what do you think vincent trocek gets traded to i still think minnesota i know emily kaplan was floating that again last night on the broadcast i know you have a different team in mind colorado just made a big trade and they saved some money on the salary cap with the trade with the penguins and um you know they're making they're getting ready to make another big move there so we'll see i got some inside info there floating that out
That's what I read. I don't have inside info on that. Fair enough. The Devils lost out in Pittsburgh 4-1, but a little Matt Laughlin fun along the way on the lone Devils goal.
Now it's for Hughes. At the hash marks to Hamilton. The blast! Did it go in? Yes, it did. I thought it might have been a save. She loves reaching for it, but the puck lodges in the back of the net.
There you go.
Paul Cotter, lone goal scorer.
