Chapter 1: What frustrations do Mets fans have early in the season?
All I can say to us Mets fans is, man, it is early. We got a long way to go, and we are a long way from opening day. When we thought, well, we came in here the next day. Wow, this is going to be some lineup when you see it in real time and what they did and how they fight off pitches. But, you know, David Peterson did not have a good start last night and watched the highlights this morning.
Obviously, did not stay up and watch the game at all. But it just seems like they just cannot get the key hit. Again... Runners in scoring position up for three this time. And they only had five hits in this game.
Yeah, I mean, they get out to a lead, but obviously it doesn't last very long. And you had a combination of David Peterson getting smacked around the park and then sloppiness as well as he makes an error trying to cover first. You got the miscommunication between Luis Robert Jr. and Marcus Simeon. That leads to a ball dropping that shouldn't have.
Chapter 2: How did David Peterson perform in the recent game?
So, yeah, it was just... It was a bad one, and it normally wouldn't matter as much if we didn't see the same things that have befell them the last couple of games, which is bad offense after bad offense after bad offensive game. And also, it was a long offseason. It was a long...
june july august september last year watching them play terrible baseball so you know when you're you finally get yourself past some of the things maybe you disagreed with in the offseason even though i didn't disagree with much and then you come out and that first game as we talked about how the lineups you know And it feels like this team is disciplined at the plate.
And, you know, everybody's got the eye of Juan Soto. To turn that into what we've seen here, which is just absolutely anemic offense, is frustrating. So you just hope that it doesn't continue. It's not like the San Francisco Giants are some sort of juggernaut. I mean, it's also annoying that you see the Yankees essentially, you know, shut down the Giants like they were a little league team.
And then when the Mets play him, you know, seven runs in that first game. Yeah, that's a little bit annoying as well. But of course, I mean, all the old adages continue about April and this and that. It's just that.
Chapter 3: Why is the Mets' offense struggling to get key hits?
You know, this is the time you're supposed to be excited about the team, and it's supposed to be fired up. Like, Yankee fans right now, that's what I want to be feeling. I want to be feeling that 5-1 feeling going to Yankee Stadium for opening day and seeing this team continue to play well.
And instead, we got a 3-4 team that was mentally checked out two days ago, is sloppy in the field and can't get a big hit. Sucks.
I would also say that a couple of these things are, you know, players have to get used to playing with each other.
Yeah.
Whether it be Sibian and Robert and whether ā well, you know, Vientos was at first base last night, so much for run prevention in a key situation.
Sure.
But I don't know. These are all things that are going to have to work themselves out. I just ā The fact of the matter is that they should be a much better offensive team than they are showing in the last four games. In the last five games, actually, right?
I mean, so after that opening day, you know, deluge of hits and walks and all the key hits and everything else, I don't know what to tell you. I can always say that time will tell whether or not they're going to be any good. And I just... It's frustrating for them to get off a start like this, but I'm not going to just throw in the towel yet.
Well, obviously not. We know that.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of the Mets' recent losses?
counted him out a little bit, even though I was a huge Mark Vientos guy after that postseason. I was all about him in 2025, and then it was just a bad year. So, I mean, he crushes one last night in the second inning, so that was good to see. So he's played multiple games in a row, and he looks like he's hitting the baseball. So do you want to take a positive from last night? There's one for you.
Looks like 55 degrees and cloudy today at Yankee Stadium for opening pitch.
Could be better, could be worse. Yes, that's true. But you would sign for that in early April, that's for sure, with the weather, how bad it could be. You could get a 42-degree, rainy, 15-mile-an-hour to 20-mile-an-hour sustained wind day, and you're not going to get that.
So, yeah, and then you got the Yankee fans that'll be up early like the Met fans were going to Citi Field, getting all jacked up, doing their thing, getting ready for a big opening day. Jack Hughes throwing out the first pitch along with the goaltender from the U.S. women's team. Al not impressed with that at all. Said that really just no juice around Jack Hughes anymore at all.
What are you talking about? What do you mean no juice around, Jack Hughes?
Kind of old news now. Olympics was like two months ago.
He wanted something more topical like Kristi Noem's husband with the big fake boobs to throw out. Oh, okay.
You wanted the boobification throwout.
He just said that the way that we digest things these days, we move on from them very quickly. And he feels like the Olympics was a long time ago.

Chapter 5: How do the Yankees compare to the Mets this season?
Yeah, okay. It doesn't feel as topical.
How many gold medals do you have? I don't have any. Yeah, okay.
Well, he's not. I don't think he's knocking Jack Hughes winning a gold medal. I think he's knocking the Yankees for going back to the well for opening.
Going back to the well? It's not going back to the well. I mean, this was announced a while ago.
Yeah, too early.
That's what he's saying. He's just saying it's old news. Yeah, well, I don't agree with him.
Okay, I just, you know, I kind of see both sides.
I mean, the Yankees, gold medal, Olympics, Olympic heroes. Come on. What, are you crazy?
A lot of Yankee fans are Ranger fans, though.

Chapter 6: What are the expectations for the Mets moving forward?
Sean Morris said he's booing Jack Hughes. With the opening day first pitch. All right. He's going to be there. He's going to boo. Yeah, okay. Well, I mean, I'm just relaying what he said.
I don't know what to tell you other than how many gold medals does he have. Well, yeah, I mean. Maybe he's eating chicken fries or something like that. Chicken fries? Yes. They still do chicken fries? Was that Burger King that did chicken fries? Yeah, I don't know. I was actually watching a great show on Hulu yesterday called Paradise. Oh, yeah?
Yeah, and there's the chicken fry scene in there, or cheese fries, I should say.
Oh, cheese fries.
Cheese fries.
Well, the chicken fries were a thing, though, at Burger King.
I will tell you, the show is worth your time. Paradise on Hulu. Paradise on Hulu, okay. Yes, definitely worth your time.
I'm getting all sorts of recommendations. CeeLo gave me a movie recommendation in the break. You're giving me a TV recommendation.
Yes.

Chapter 7: How does player chemistry affect the Mets' performance?
Yeah.
Said, chicken tender slut. Chicken tender slut? Yeah. Okay. Nice. That was his shirt. I was like, you know, I got to give this guy credit. I like that.
Yeah. Many of us are, actually. You know? I like a good chicken tender. There's no question about that.
Yeah. You know, all this talk, like, I kind of feel like, I mean, I'm not going to do it now because I've got other responsibilities because our kids are off school and everything. But, like, I'm talking myself into going to the ballpark right now.
The food and all the Jack Hughes stuff that's going on and Moorish is booing and a couple of beers and I want to feel good about baseball and the Mets are not allowing me to do that.
Yeah.
Talking myself into going to the Bronx.
Yeah, I don't know why Moorish would be doing that. Oh, because he's here.
You know that.
