More From Goodell On Tisch-Epstein, Plus, Why Belichick Didn't Make The Hall
03 Feb 2026
Chapter 1: What did Roger Goodell say about Steve Tisch and Jeffrey Epstein?
We'll get some more from Roger Goodell's annual Super Bowl week press conference as he met the media yesterday in San Jose. So we heard the Steve Tisch question and answer earlier. We'll look into it. We'll get the facts. We'll go from there. Follow-up from another reporter. Does that mean the NFL will actively investigate Tisch's involvement with Jeffrey Epstein?
And also, is the league concerned about other owners potentially being named as part of the release of the Epstein files?
I don't even know the status of all the release. I know that three million documents came out at least this week. So, listen, we'll continue to follow any of the facts that come up, and we'll determine whether we open an investigation or not based on those facts.
And then one more swing at it. I believe this was Albert Breer with the question for Goodell.
Chapter 2: Is the NFL concerned about other owners in the Epstein files?
Hey, Roger, I know you said you guys are still collecting the facts on any owner's involvement in the Epstein files, but are you concerned, given the scope of the story, how that reflects on the league?
Sure, but that's why we have a personal conduct policy, and that's why we'll look into the facts. So there you go. You got that.
And by the way, they did announce a game in Paris. The Saints and the Browns are going to be playing in Paris next year.
You know, Al, you were ahead of that. We did that yesterday on the warm-up, and then that was sort of like a thing yesterday as part of the international release. Oh, yes. Look at you. About the French. You were way out in front of that one. Yeah. He got his big Libya take in there. Payback for Libya back in the day.
Chapter 3: What are the implications of Goodell's comments on Tisch?
What big Libya take?
In 1986, when we wanted to bomb Gaddafi, because he was being a douche over there in Libya, we gave France the heads up. We said, hey, we're going to fly our bombers over there. And they said, no. So we always hold the grudge against France.
We had to go around France a little bit more of a longer route to get to Libya.
I mean, we might not be a country without France, if you think about it. We had to have somebody help fight off the English. That seems so long ago.
This is 1986.
Let's just forget that. Oh, boy. All right, so I referenced Albert Breer, who I believe is a New England guy to begin with. All right, so you get another familiar New England-based reporter, Ben Volin, who's covered the Patriots for quite some time. This was an interesting segue from him.
Hey, Roger. Seeing the Seahawks and Patriots up here, I'm really tempted to ask you another Deflategate question, but we'll move on here. I believe you're on the board at the Hall of Fame.
All right, now he's greasing him for the Bill Belichick Hall of Fame question in what sounded like a very calculated way.

Chapter 4: Why didn't Bill Belichick get elected to the Hall of Fame?
Yeah, look. He's the best general manager in football. That's right. So that was interesting to me. I don't know if the best general manager in football also could be John Schneider out in Seattle.
Yes, he could. Yes, he could. So I don't know what that off-the-field rumor is, but kind of interesting to me that they both seem to be talking about the same thing.
Oh, you hadn't heard the rumor?
I have not. Okay. This is something you're up on as well?
Chapter 5: What factors influenced Belichick's Hall of Fame candidacy?
Well, yeah. Everybody is. Everybody? Except for you. Gio, you know about this rumor? 100%. Eddie? Eddie? No. Okay, good. So at least I got Eddie on my side. All right, so that felt like a light place to end that interview, right? Talking football and Boone kind of just, you know, chopping up with them after 40 minutes of grilling him about his team. But as it turned out, no.
I still got another question.
Chapter 6: How does Goodell view the Hall of Fame voting process?
I got more questions.
I'll give you one more question.
Well, I just wanted to ask him.
One question that's killing you. You didn't ask. Go. All right, so he asked for it. So here we go. We put C-Mac back on the clock. One last chance to pick Boone's brain on his beloved Yankees. Are you ready, Boomer?
Yes. I'm curious about the idea, and I know it's probably a little bit more for cash, but the idea of 162 versus the playoffs, right? Because I think that's the other perception. I'm trying to ask questions that I know the fan base is. Like, 162, I think most Yankee fans, even the ones who are down on the team, think that they're good enough to make the playoffs, right? It's a really good roster.
You got the best right-handed hitter, arguably, in the last 50 years. Like, the team should be good enough to win. But is this team, do you believe... that the team has a fundamental issue where maybe too many strikeouts, you know, reliance on the home run. Some of those are the topics that you hear from this team.
Like, do you think there is a way to build a team better than you guys have for a specific short series success? Do you believe that all you can do is build for 162 and hope you guys perform? And have you felt ever leaving a series where you're like, we need to be better at this to specifically play well in a short series, not just beat this team or another? Yeah, I've definitely felt that way.
All right, 52 seconds. I mean, that's a lot of questions in one question.

Chapter 7: What changes are needed for the Hall of Fame criteria?
Yeah, they said one last question. He went more with like six, packed into one.
I mean, it's got to be a combination of wanting to get everything out because he might not get this opportunity anytime soon with him being in studio and also the nervousness of him just starting an afternoon drive was all put together.
Well, you know, Aaron loved going on with Sal and Brandon. I don't know why he doesn't make it more of a, like when C-Max by himself on the weekend or something.
I mean, in season, he's a little busy on the weekends, probably.
Yeah, maybe. But, you know, 20 minutes in the morning to have a conversation with C-Mac?
Well, we used to get the visiting manager spot with Ed Randall on Talking Baseball. Oh, yeah. So maybe McMonagle can have Boone on as a Saturday regular. He's got the Saturday morning show, and they can, you know, let things breathe and really open it up on the weekends. Sure.
But, I mean, I felt like ā I felt the collective warmth ā of C-Mac coming through the radio yesterday when it came to talking to Aaron Boone. Oh, without a doubt. Yeah, 100%.
Collective warmth. The endearment. The affection. You could feel it. It was palpable.
He loves him some Aaron Boone. Yes, he does. And I don't blame him either. I like Aaron Boone too. He doesn't hide from it, you know?
