Chapter 1: What highlights emerged from the US men's hockey team's gold medal victory?
I got to tell you, if it wasn't for YouTube, I don't know what I'd be giving you this morning. But thankfully, we do have YouTube, and we do find a lot of fun stuff, or at least good stuff, I should say. So looking for some reaction from the U.S.
men's hockey team winning the gold, I did find, I think this was CBS in Miami, caught up with them as they got off the plane yesterday morning when they came back from Italy. And here was Jack Hughes reflecting hours and hours and hours after the game winner and winning the gold.
I was saying this the day of the gold medal. It's for all the guys that have come before us. And, you know, all the young kids are going to come after us. So just like, you know, when I was a kid, I was growing up dreaming of being where I'm at now. And in 10 years, there's going to be another Austin Matthews. There's going to be another Matthew Kachuk and another Quinn Hughes.
And speaking of Matthew.
That was amazing.

Chapter 2: How did Jack Hughes reflect on the gold medal win?
I saw where Craig yesterday was poo-pooing this whole thing that it's growing the game. It's growing the game. Well, let me just tell you something. These guys. grew the game because they were inspired by the group before them. You know, Chuck's dad and that whole group.
And, you know, when you watch a lot of those reactionary videos to when the Americans won the gold, do you know how many teams were on the ice that were like 10, 12 years old that actually stopped their games in the middle of the game as they were playing to hug each other because the Americans won?
Maurice was saying that. that he was, in 1980, he was 13 years old, and he didn't understand what was going on because I guess all of the parents were in the other room away from the ice watching it. Yes. So they stopped and then went to watch the end of it as well when they beat the Soviets.
Yeah, so it will definitely inspire a generation of players. Now, how popular hockey becomes because of it, that's a different story. But I know one thing. Around here in New Jersey, Long Island, and in Connecticut, the tri-state area here, Do you know how many more kids are playing ice hockey now?
The Charlie McAvoy's of the world would have never been spawned had they not been inspired by a generation before them.
I mean, it's also it's a it's a tricky sport in the fact that you've got to find ice time and it's also very expensive.
But it's growing. It's growing exponentially. The high school programs are growing. The buildings are tough to come by. That's for sure. But, you know, they've added a few buildings here on Long Island over the last couple of years. But it's it's definitely growing.
Here was, you mentioned Matthew Kachuk at the end there. Here was Kachuk coming off the plane.
Being back on home soil, we can feel the second wheels hit the ground. So excited back in the greatest country in the world and so excited to celebrate.

Chapter 3: What impact does the gold medal win have on youth hockey participation?
It's such a positive story. Why wouldn't you?
Yeah, no, I know. I came across that. So that was very cool as well. You've got the Devils playing the Sabres tomorrow. Rangers and Flyers don't pick up until Thursday, as do the Islanders and the Canadians. All right, we get to some NFL stuff. It's slim pickings here, so you're going to get what I can find.
Charger Center, Bradley Bozeman did announce his retirement after eight years in the league. He's 31 and moving on in the next chapter of his life. It looks like the Falcons placing the franchise tag on tight end Kyle Pitts. Don't know what the Cowboys are going to do with George Pickens, if they're going to sign him or give him the franchise tag.
But John Machada, a reporter in Dallas, caught up with Stephen Jones asking about, and I only bring this up because it's NFC East related, talked about taking Christian Parker away from the Eagles and making him their defensive coordinator.
Are there people that you trust in Philadelphia's organization that will give you what it takes? Not really, no.
No, but in all seriousness...
You know, no question they didn't want to lose him. Well, they did lose him as he goes to Dallas, a division rival. The Patriots releasing running back Antonio Gibson. NBA-wise, part of the game of the night was the Spurs and the Pistons. You had Detroit 42-14. The Spurs were 40-16, and San Antonio wins. I think the game was in Detroit as well. 114-103 was the final. Nine straight fouls.
for the Spurs. Victor Wembinyama, the line looks great. 21 points, 17 rebounds, 6 blocked shots. First things first, what did a win like this against a team like that do for your team?
I don't think that's a night where we learn the most things about ourselves, but it's definitely a night where we confirm progression and confirm potential as well. But that was a good test.
