Chapter 1: What happened in the Yankees vs. Mariners game?
tight game late in Seattle Yankees Mariners Yankees had this weird start to the season playing that uneven series with the Giants having Sunday off they go into Seattle and they lose in the late innings big spot here from Blackbird
It's a dangerous hitter, although off to a terrible start, 2 for 16. Pitch to Raleigh, 2-1, swing on, and hit down to first baseline, into right field, and that's a base hit, and it's a game winner for Cal Raleigh as Rivas scores, and the Mariners walk it off, a 2-1 victory over the Yankees.
And that was Dave Sims right here on the fan. Two on the final score. Cal Raleigh given much of the night off. Came through in a big way in the ninth inning off of Paul Blackburn. Luis Castillo, six scoreless innings to it. Ball seven strikeouts. Didn't factor in the decision, however. Here was Ryan Weathers. He made the start for the Yankees. He went four and a third. Also struck out seven.
Just thoughts on how he feels he did.
I was excited to throw and just got a little bit out of myself in the first. Bounced back well in the first. I feel like I threw the ball well from there on out. I think it's just got behind in counts. You know, just you got to trust my stuff over the middle of the plate and get ahead in the count.
Which he did, especially in the last couple of innings, maybe not so much early on. Fernando Cruz struck out the two batters he faced, so ultimately the Yankees fall because they couldn't score. They'll have Max Freed taking on Logan Gilbert on the fan tonight with coverage at 940. You also had, which we talked about earlier, the ABS challenges.
The Yankees going 5-for-5 last night, and I guess across the league. So I just found a... an ex-post or an ex-account where they give you the numbers from the previous day. So I don't have yesterday's yet, but I was looking through them. There are some days where it seems like the umpires are right on it and other days where it's just been brutal.
It's only a week, but we shall see if they're going to keep track of it throughout the course of the season. As for the Mets, they went to St. Louis after they took two of three from the Pirates and a rare start from Jared Young, and he made the most of it. Pitch. Young slaps one toward right center field. Walker on the run. Not going to get to it.
It takes one hop and hits the fence and deep right center. Beatty around third. He's heading home. He's in to score standing. And Jared Young in the lineup tonight. Makes it 3-1 Mets with a double to the gap in right center. And they would win 4-2. Keith Radd with the call on Mets Odyssey Radio.

Chapter 2: How do the Yankees' recent performances impact their season?
I've been in the league for 26 years and merging philosophies and process, and so far it's been great. Had a productive offseason. That was on SNY. Hey, Joe, where in his office does John keep your balls? That's terrible. Oh, they're in Dona Ponte's office. Oh, boy. That is not nice. Here was John. So, obviously, a big offseason. You got the draft coming up.
He says, don't need to go nuts, though, on what we're doing all over the place.
You don't want to go to the buffet table hungry, right? And I think we're in a good position where we don't. We don't have to... We don't have to chase any specific need. But at the same time, we understand we still have needs. So that's going to be a factor. It's definitely going to be a factor in what we do.
Did that tell you they'll draft for need or best player available? I always like to think best player available unless you have like – in other words, if you were the Philadelphia Eagles and you weren't going to be trading A.J. Brown and there was a top-end wide receiver there, would you take that top-end wide receiver knowing that you have two top-end wide receivers?
Then maybe you would go and try to reach for a need player, maybe a defensive back. Right. I don't necessarily know the Giants are in that situation right now. I don't see them drafting a left tackle. But – I think it's got to be best player available. Well, that's what he's saying with that statement.

Chapter 3: How did Jared Young contribute to the Mets' victory?
But then again, we see it all the time with teams that are trying to fill out their roster that maybe missed out on somebody in free agency. It's like, all right, we have a need at this position. They end up taking the copy. I always think of the Ravens as taking defensive players for some reason, like offensive linemen, like a center. If they're later in the first round –
Hell, they drafted Tyler Lindabrom, right? So he just left and went to the Raiders as a free agent, the highest paid center in the league. So, you know, I believe he's probably going to go defense. That's what I would think. But you never know who's going to be sitting there at that moment. Or let's say they are sitting there and Jeremiah Love is sitting there.
Do we go and go get another tremendous athlete or do we trade out of that so somebody else can come up and get Jeremiah Love and then they add more picks? That'd be great. That's another thing they can do. He certainly made it very clear they love the player. We shall see. You guys also talked about his comments about Odell Beckham Jr. So are you interested?
The obvious pat answer would be look at every option, right? And if Odell's an option, then we'll be looking at him for sure. And he and I do talk and we do text and we've maintained a really great relationship. He's one of my very favorite people in the world.
In the world. That's pretty good. Here's one more on Beckham.
We'll just have to see where it all goes, what's best for him, what's best for the Giants. That's the number one thing. It is what's best for our team.
So right now a free agent is Beckham. We shall see where he ends up. And then one other one from these meetings, Darren Muji. So a lot of Jet fans have been curious what they're going to do with Brees Hall. Here was Muji with the media, this again courtesy of SNY, giving an update on where everything stands with Hall and maybe the relationship.
Good. Things are in a good place, and I'm hopeful with Brees. Obviously we'll get through this draft process and after the draft kind of shift my focus back there and hopefully get something done with Brees.
So if you're Brees Hall, right, that's what you want to hear? No? Sounds good, unless they move around the board, move up, move down, move around, take Jeremiah Love, and then trade Brees Hall. You never know. Fair point. I mean, these guys are being asked pointy questions, and I think they're answering them about as honestly as they possibly can without giving you a real specific answer.

Chapter 4: What updates did Joe Schoen provide about the Giants' new head coach?
The commissioner made the D.H., in both leagues. I haven't been... I haven't been able to watch baseball the same anymore.
It's Loogie!
Hey, Tommy. I think we should go back to the leather helmets.
Because if you put on a leather helmet, you're not going to meet with your head as much. Because people don't want to make contact Hello?
Hello? I have the call that Frank Katzen traded Del Strawberry. There you go. Moment of the day. What was that? Thank you. In the middle of it. Was that you? I don't think so. I don't know. I don't think it was. I have no idea. I know what you're talking about, that sound. I don't remember doing that, but I could have. I don't know. Okay.
I was going to make it a what the hell is that sound, but since it was a moment of the day, I didn't. But yeah, very strange. That was a strange one. It sounded like you're making me. It was funny. Yes, very funny, actually. All right, Jerry. See you tomorrow. Have a great day. Get out there. Play some golf if you can. Warm day. That's the idea.
