After several injuries and health issues, Ryan decided to try a carnivore diet when he was several months into his NCAA Div. 1 season as a decathlete. He describes his experience as “becoming a new athlete” on a plant-free diet. On a carnivore diet, Ryan won the Big Ten Championship! His body recovered in time win the Big Ten, break the Michigan State University record in the decathlon, and earn All-American honors, and compete in the NCAA National Championship. He was also a first-place finisher in the decathlon at the Jim Click Shootout in Tempe, Arizona, on April 8, 2022. He looks forward to many years of success as a young athlete eating a plant-free diet.
