Last year was a bumper year for Irish cinemas. ‘Barbenheimer’ was the phenomenon of the summer that drove thousands of people to the silver screen. But the long-term trend for cinema-going in Ireland is not great. The arrival of Netflix and prime video poses an existential threat.
