I didn't realize it at the time not till after I finished recording and was editing yesterday's episode, but that episode marked a significant milestone for this podcast, or specifically for the daily episodes. It was episode two hundred. I'm approaching the year mark for daily episodes, and it is fascinating to me to think about the fact that I've been doing this for about a year. year. I haven't hit every single day, but most days, probably what, ninety percent of days. And I haven't run out of stuff to talk about. And I don't see that happening in the near future. Between these daily episodes, the first season of the podcast, which were the weekly episodes, uh, we're approaching four hundred total episodes there.
And then when you zoom out and look at all of the bonus episodes that have been recorded, I mean we're well above Above five hundred at this point, probably even closer to six or seven. That constitutes an amazing amount of work, I realize, as I sit here thinking about uh the research for every single one of those, as I think about the time spent to record, to compile sources, to edit, to post. But it's worth it. It's been a really great journey, a fun time, and it's something that I'm passionate about and I love. I hope that you also are getting value out of it. I'm not going To do the, you know, 20 or 30 article thing today. What I do want to do is try and tell a bit of a story. And I'm only going to use, I think it's eight articles here to tell this story. But I want you to, for a moment, think back to ten years ago when Donald Trump was first being elected in the US. If we go back exactly 10 years, then we're talking about uh Uh, July of 2016. That was prior to him having even been elected. We were simply talking about this joke of a person that was running but was there was no way that he was going to win.
And I want you to think about maybe where your headspace was at at that time. If you were American, think about what the status quo was at the time for politics, for the rule of law, for the direction the country was headed. That's not to say that it was a wonderful time. That's not to say that we didn't have our fair share of problems from a political perspective. Of course we did. But I want you to compare that moment to where we've come today and the story that we're gonna see laid out across today's episode. It is easy, I think, sometimes, and this is their goal, to be desensitized for this to be normal. normalized, right? After a million different things this administration has done, threatened to do, attempted to do, it just becomes life.
What significance does episode 200 hold for the daily series?
It becomes what it is. And we don't necessarily think about it. But I want to take a chance today to to sort of think back to the past and then consider some of these headlines that we're going to read through today. Because this is a microcosm, right? It is a small sampling of what America Has become at the hands of this GOP administration. We'll start with this one. This is the World Socialist website.
